I went to my garden the other day and saw this little guy eating my tomatos,so I holler you better quit eating my maters. He looks at me,(still chewing) and starts walking to me.Now I expected him to come unglued when I yelled, so I walk up and touch him. Then I walked him to my brother-in-laws maters and say you can have all of these you want.My question is why did he not spook???Why was he alone??His moma should'nt have booted him out this early.I saw him in with a bachelor group of bucks last night. It just don't make sense to me..

Very neat pictures!

One time I had a yearling doe walk out of the woods about 20 yards from me and stop.  I held out my hand and 'called' her and she came right to me, like dog.  I was holding a rifle, too!  After a minute or so, she bolted.  One of my most memorable encounters in the woods.

strange..my wife was at an outside party in a subdivision last week when a deer walked into the yard started eating flowers and the folks ended up walking up to it and feeding it out of their hands....all i can say is the neighbors must feed them all the time and they get used to people kind of like a squirrel in a city park... kind of interesting.....

Sounds like your choice of browse for your food plot was great.
If at first you don't succeed, do it like your wife told you to, to begin with.

careful, if the wife gets attached it may be the end of your hunting for any deer. Mine's still pissed that I shot "her" deer last year.  :)

So cool!

I had a fawn walk s-l-o-w-l-y down a hillside and finally sniff my fingertips some 35 years ago, but I never moved the whole time.

I was amazed my scent didn't "send" him.  After his review, I said aloud, "Buddy, you'd better learn what that is, and keep away from it.  Hunting season starts in 3 weeks."

He looked up, surprised something alive was attached to those strange-smelling "twigs," and s-l-o-w-l-y worked away, taking a look back from time to time.  It is among my favorite outdoor memories.

Your story and experience is all the more interesting and impressive!  Thanks for the story and pics.

I used to shoot a lot of competitive Skeet/Trap/Sporting clays.
We were having a shoot at Ft.Ben Harrison Army base in Indianapolis on a Sunday.
A herd(family) of deer came out and started feeding on the grass, well within skeet gun range.
We had to call the shoot until we could shoo them off. Not the least afraid of gunfire.
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

Killdeer

Maybe somebody hand-raised him?
That son of yours is getting big!
