I do still have a few guns, but seldom hunt with them. When it comes to bows, I am strictly stickly.

Nothing wrong with either in my eyes as both are considered legal in archery season. I hunt with a recurve or longbow but have many friends that dont. I dont think im better than them for it though. Easier to shoot trad in my eyes not as much to do before the shot. I will hunt with a gun sometimes and chase ducks around with a shotgun. Good luck to everyone no matter what you use.

Since 1996, Haven't looked back and have no plans to.  This stuff is WAY too much fun!!    :bigsmyl:

I'm trad only re: archery. This is the first year I didn't hunt the rifle season...actually, I did hunt the rifle season, but with a bow. For 15 years before this year, I chased desert muleys in SE NM. Since moving to OK, I've had to recalibrate my thinking A BUNCH. Those muleys  in the sand dunes are cake compared to whitetails! But I probably had more fun this year, even missing the only shot I got, than I've ever had hunting. I had deer from 9 feet on out...just didn't get an opportunity until last night. Shot right over her back at 23 yards. Oh well. Still had a great trad-only season. I guess all those rifles in the gun safe are getting lonely!

Archery hunting it's recurves and longbows only but I do tend to use different arrow shafting depending upon my bow.  While I especially enjoy the company of other traditional archers in a hunting camp, I don't have a problem hunting with a compound user either.   Regardless of equipment I appreciate ethical behavior and is one of the criteria I use to choose my hunting companions.

Grew up with a 30-30 in my hands in the woods of New Hampshire. Worked for LL Bean in the late 80's and switched to compound bows. The following year I got rid of all my hunting rifles. Over the years I have grown bored with the compounds. Been there done that... I moved to The middle of elk country two years ago, and haven't even gotten my bows out of storage. Two weeks ago I got my first longbow from Bamabows. I can't put it down! Anyone interested in some dusty compound bows?
Traditional only for me! This season I am more excited about getting a pheasant with my bow, than an elk. But, I will take both....hopefully!   :)

I hunt with a Bow & gun, but when I'm hunting during archery season it's TRAD! I've even quit playing with aluminum & carbon arrows. Strictly Trad. bow & woodies!

Never have shot anything but trad. Just not seemly for a guy that hunts with flintlock rifles too.

I shot a compound for 2 years in the late 70's. Strickly trad before and after. Sounds like a few guys have turned trad only since this thread was started.   :bigsmyl:

I still have my compound though I rarely take it out of the case. Carried it around for a couple days deer hunting last couple days of early deer season. Didn't get a deer but the whole day I was thinking damn this thing is heavy. So it sits in it's case mostly.

Traditional only for archery season but I do hunt the Catskill  State Forest region in NY with a rifle during that season.  Lou
