I bought a sage a few years back to get into trad gear and it has treated me well, but now i want to move up. I have a 31.5 dl and would like to be between 55 and 60# at my draw. Also maybe keep the price under 750. The sage is a 62 inch bow should i go with a 64 or is 62 good? Also have been eyeballing the hoyt buffalo?

There are alot of good bows out there for that price range. I have shot quite a few of the longbows but sadly not that many of the recurves. My favorite recurves out of those I have personally shot though are definately Black Widows, and my favorite longbows are Tomahawks.

Come to the trad expo at Kalamazoo, or one of the big shoots like Cloverdale or Compton and shoot a lot of different bows.  That really helps in making such a major decision.

James of J. D. Berry Archery builds one of the best bows on the market. He's been building custom bows for 32 years now and the work he puts into them is like no other. You may like to take a look at is web  www.jdberryarchery.com

There aren't as many 64-inch recurves around as there are 62-inchers, but I recommend the longer length if your draw length is 31.5 inches.  All other things being equal, it will be smoother, less stack or stack later, and less finger pinch.

Help us out, I think some of us (maybe im the only one) confused. Is 31.5 your draw or your bow weight?
