I lost "IT"
«
on:
November 23, 2012, 10:13:00 AM »
I don't really know how it happened but I just don't have the drive anymore to buy or trade for another bow. I guess I'm either satisfied or just tired of it all. I think we all at some point get caught up in the hype, how magically a new bow is going to make our shooting improve or improve our odds at taking game. I guess maybe I've finally come to accept things as they are, so I might as well enjoy what I have and make the best of it.

Peter ,You must be fairly young,You'll grow into it! LOL I still like differant bows, but I don't believe they'll make me a better shot.Just like the Workmanship of the great Bowyers out there today.I am though been more satisfied with what I've got.

Me too Steve....has nothing to do with improving my ability. I am just bedazzled by the custom work out there and love to see that crzay grained piece of wood that has been hiding in a tree for 100 years - unveiled into an archery treasure.
I have bows I reach for without thinking. They are not my prettiest or biggest "name" bow.
But I love em all, Id swim in them if I could.
Im a sick man.

Longstick, I am about at the point at which you have arrived. It's really kind of nice to be satisfied with what you have and be able to direct some funds to other aspects of the sport. You can get some meat stuff with all the money a new bow costs you!

David said it best...not about shooting better but just when you think you have seen the sickest craziest piece of bocote or cocobolo with the nicest overlays....someone gets one better!! I went for 8 yrs with the same two bows and now am looking for something different! Its like starting all over again....way fun!

I have done a bit of the buy and even littler of the sell. I think I am done now. I have bows at all the draw weights I could possibly need, and I love them all. I can't see adding more. I have only shot one (my first) since June. I want to take an animal with it this year. I would love to shoot some of the others, but I don't want to mess up my shooting by switching around. I love the beauty and variations in bows, but I am so happy with the ones I have I can't see having any more that I just let sit. At least that is my rationele now, who knows what will happen if I get the itch again.

I have a bunch.....narrowing down to a few that I just really like......and then it happens, a bow I have always wanted shows up on the classifieds at my specs at less than half price. I have fun wheeling and dealing.......and then there's the ILF stuff

I'm down with the sickness.
I need another bow.
You know its bad when you think about which bang stick you could sell to buy another bow.

My recurve that my grandfather handed down to me snapped a limb
, I am using a borrowed longbow until hunting season is up. I am trying to get $ saved up for a nice Tall Tines but am having a little trouble finding a second job that would be worth my time!

Longstik64, You havent lost it, youve found it! All of the buying swapping and trading can never replace the benefits of dedication.
Acquiring a different bow every few months will never lead to instant success, but dedication will.
If you have found a bow that suits you, stick with it and "learn it", for it will become an extension of youself and the benefits will far outweigh the desire for another bow.
