Hi gang,

Does anyone uses a flashlight to hunt?
In  Portugal it's allowed to hunt at night. I need to attach a flashlight to my BW but don't know how.

Tried to wrap it with rubber strap but the bow noise kicked up and the performance dropped.

I think this happened because the wrap was over the limb pocket section not letting the limb do it's work properly.

My bow has side bushings. I have a scope mount ring that I use on my compound bow to attach the flashlight on the riser.

Any opinions? How-to's?

Thanks
Diogo

Its legal here for predator hunting and shooting rough fish, I assumed that you could night hunt predators and fish in most states.

On my fish shooting bow I use a light that my buddy in Texas sent me after he had upgraded to a better one. I don't know the brand, or even how old it is, but he just called it a hog light. It mounts in a stabilizer hole and It has a pressure switch to turn it on and off, you can see it mounted to the riser with velcro. It runs off 1-9volt battery and isn't very bright but it does get the job done.

You can use them for hogs. Tippit set a bow up for that.

Maybe a light on a beat up old bear recurve don't look "trad" but I don't see whats so "Ewwww" about it? I guess my wife and I could sit home in front of the tv or computer rather than get out with the recurves and shoot some fish.    :D   If you've never been out at night shooting fish then you are missing out on loads of fun and shooting.

Mounting it is tricky....

your probably going to try 10 different things before you figure out the best set up.

My guess would be to try and find a old quiver to modify.

Or if appearance means nothing you could just duct tape two pipe clamps to the riser. when i say pipe clamps i mean the small ones that are adjustable with a screw driver.

Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

If my bow had a stabilizer hole, that was easy. It doesn't and I don't want to add it.

Gatekeeper idea is nice but for stand hunting. I do a lot of stalking at night. But the arm protection thing might work!

I have the lamp. What I don't have is a stabilizer hole.

Anyone tried with the side quiver holes?

try the traditional gadget adapter from Great Northern. I think several of the sponsers carry it, it straps to your bow and functions as a stabilizer bushing with drilling any holes.

Sam houston had posted a pic a while back of his bow/flashlite set up. Used to pieces of inner tube. It seemed pretty easy and sturdy. I couldnt find it but Im sure you could pm him if interested.

I think I got it.

I have a scope mount ring to assemble the flashlight on my compound.
I've cut one inch of an old scope rail that I had here and in witch the mount ring attaches. I've drilled a hole so I can screw it on the side bushing's of the bow.

Now I just need to try it!

Thanks guy's.
