The Bible saids "Grab your BOW" not  a compound b/c a compound is a machine, not a bow; so if the Good Lord wanted us to grab a compound, He would have said so but He said a "Bow";

That's good enough for me.

When a hunter is in a tree stand with high moral values and
with the proper hunting ethics and richer for the experience, that hunter is 20
feet closer to God.

The legacy, traditon, the challenge.  I love the feeling I have getting closer to my primitive intincts and geneology.  Sometimes, when I have a young Doe feeding in front of me on the ground, I can look behind me and see Mr. Hill, Mr. Bear, some family members and pope and young looking over my shoulder, sharing the moment.

Guns and Compounds got to be too easy. I want a challenge when I Bow Hunt. I don't have to kill when I Hunt, just being out there is enough for me.
Ditto.

None of the answers really quite apply for me. I shoot trad bow, I have since I was three, except for those nine months I owned cumpounds back in 74, the same reason that I play classical guitar, paddle canoes and run around taking pictures of birds.  Its a chick magnet.
That is code for I think it feeds my OCD tendencies.

With "trad gear", for the thrill....

hunting in general... for the meat!

Its not about easy or difficult, or any of that.  It's just what I do.  It"s me.

I have nothing against hunting with a compound IF that's your game. I have been blessed to harvest 13 deer with a compound bow. Now days it seems as though "compound bows" have evolved into  "vertical crossbows" and I CHOOSE to hunt with stick and string...besides, its more fun AND rewarding

Compounds  and all the gizmos attached to them always gave me an uneasy feeling. I also have been shootin trad bows since I can remember. Its alot more fun and I derive alot of satisfaction from a stick and string. You guys know that feeling of that perfect release your form was perfect and that arrow is stuck in that bullseye. You know the second that arrow leaves that it was real good. Compounds never gave me that feeling.

I'm sorry but I don't feel the need to explain why especially here on tad gang.

I enjoy using my longbow much like I enjoy starting a fire with flint and steel when camping.  Sure there is better technology that would make the task easier, but the process of using the older more classic technology makes the process more enjoyable for me.

If I'm out just to harvest meat, I always have a rifle that will allow me to take any shot I have so long as I can physically see the game I'm hunting.

I responded to the "thrill" choice but the real thing that draws me back to the recurve is nostalgia.

It's just me but I don't use the word "traditional" to describe my equipment or hunting style(s)unless I get lazy or careless with my choice of words.  I'm not sure why the word bothers me but maybe it's because I entered archery when there was no such description or segregation among bow hunters based upon their equipment choices?

It doesn't bother or matter to me whatsoever if others use the word traditional. Most of the time I know what they mean. When one (not in this thread by the way)starts splitting hairs and judging another's degree of traditionalism is when I am repulsed.
