So I just traded for a 64" Deathwish LB, never have seen or handled one before. The pictures look beautiful, the bow looks awsome. But other than that I know nothing of them.

Who here had owned/shot a Deathwish and what are your thoughts on them.

Yeah...Steve is a fellow Wisconsinite and fine human being.  He has been doing this since the eighties and knows his stuff.  He sticks with that genre of bow design (mild reflex deflex)and does a great job of it.  You couldn't go wrong owning one, if this is the style of bow you seek.  That is a good length for this style of bow, I think you'll be happy!

Give him a call and chat a bit, it'll add to your satisfaction.

Best of Luck!

I own a 60" 43#@28 Longbow with a locator or pistol grip. Some hand shock but nothing you can't deal with. Smooth draw and fun to shoot. Have not really tuned any arrows to her because been focusing on form. Used Stu's calculator to estimate arrows to use for form practice and she seems to like them CE heritage 75's cut to 29" 100 grains up front just shy of 430 grains. I don't know if the brace height is printed on yours but mine has 7" wrote on her. Once I really have my form down I plan on tuning up some arrows for her and I will let you know what she likes.

Let me know what yours like also...

Good luck,

Craig

I sure will Craig.

And yes the mild D/R and Hill bows are what I like so it should fit in well .  This one has a straight grip!!

Well the death wish arrived. Member "Caboose" here was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Outstanding man.  Here is the first two shots from the bow after stringing it up.  17 or so yards.

She is a very nice shooter. And I have never seen so much trap in limbs in my life.  Very neat to see. They are trapped to the belly.

64" Deathwish 54#@28", It has black glass on back, 4 laminations of elm with clear glass on belly, a cocobola riser with 4 thin stripes with black leather grip. A gray and cocobola overlay on back of the riser Phenolic tip overlays.

10# too much for me or I'd offer to take it off your hands   :)

Man those woods are pretty and I really like the curve of the limbs.

Thank you.  I need to take a closeup of the riser.  I was just looking at it, and there are micarta stripes in there and some white ones too. I have always owned solid riser, this is nice.

But i also just noticed something else about it. The shelf is not only radiused towards the belly, but also Cupped. its as if Steve Welte filed it to the shape of an arrow.  the whole shelf is almost 'U" shaped,  I am more and more impressed with this bow as the day goes on.

I called Steve to see if he still makes bows, because I am seriously thinking of getting a 66" version.  Its a shame he is only doing this part time and word of mouth, because he has a great product to offer folks.

Well the more I shoot this bow, the more I like it. Very smooth , soft thump at the release, very stable. The handle is long, and has good size to it. Hits te hand perfectly on grip every time. Just an absolute joy to shoot. I am very impressed.
