omega, not the prettiest bow bow man it works for me and is very fast and accurate and cheap in $$$$
If you are on a budget the Omega is the ticket. It shoots a fast arrow, but it is a utilitarian bow.  Mine throws a serious arrow down range!

If you have a bigger budget Bamabow is the way to go.  They are smooth and quiet.

I am a fan of reflex/deflex longbows. [/b]

AWP: That Maddog looks great.
Most of the bows mentioned are good choices. There are so many that I would personally reccomend that you research the forums and check out all of the bowyers sites and talk to as many as you can of owners of each. Some of the best bowyers in the world are sponsers of this site. Just choose whichever one you like best that offers the options and price you have in mind and you can't go wrong/

God bless and good luck, Steve

Hummingbird and Big Jim are current favorites and Jim/Buddy 21st Century are tops in my book.

Griffin, been a beauty in the classified right in your weight range.

Yellow Dog

In no particular order. Jim Neaves Centaurs, each bow is a work of art. John McCullough Griffins, smooth and quiet. Dan Toelke Whips, amazing bows. And the Jason Kendall Kanati. Jasons bows are one of, if not the best shooting longbows out there.

Love my Howard Hill Big 5.  Smooth, powerful and light.  Go for the straight grip (you can always dish it later if it doesn't work for you).  Your draw length will probably shorten up more than you would think with this style bow.  I went from a 29" draw with a recurve medium grip down to a very comfortable 27" with the Hill bow.

moleman

I lean towards the Hill style but shoot others as well. Lots of great bows mentioned above, and you couldnt go wrong with any of them.
Right now my favorite is a no name Hill style longbow 70' 65 -70 lbs ( never scaled it )and as best i can find out was made in the 70's that i picked up in a trade.

Thanks DWilhelm,
Never thought about being able to dish a straight grip if I didn't like it, awesome.

Which ever one of my Big Jim's I'm shooting

I like Hill bows. I have 2 Weley Specials, 2 Cheetahs, and a Big Five. Most commonly I shoot a Wesley or the 55 lb. Cheetah. I don't yet own a Northern Mist but have shot them. They are very nice, too.

I just picked up a used Toelke Super D and it has leapfrogged my other longbows.  It just really fits my hand well.
