Barry,
I bought a new bow that was to heavy for me just starting out #56 . In the meantime I picked up a Bear Kodiak #46 Starting shooting it and working on form. I listed the new bow for sale , but my curiosity got the best of me.

Got the new bow out strung it up got some arrows and starting shooting. I was amazed didn't seem like I was drawing #56 @29.

I went to the Trad bow for sale here and edited my post SOLD, not selling. I'm glad I'm holding on to it. She's a shooter and oh so quite.

Peregrine recurve Robertson 56@29 Coco-bola, bamboo core juniper veneers

So I did go up in weight. This is a GREAT site with a wealth of knowledge here.

Barry,

I have switched bows many times. Always looking for the next best thing you know. After receiving a new to me Rivers Edge Recurve, I decided to make a change and devote all my time and practice to one bow. I decided to stop all this trading back and forth because I'd finally found the bow that met everything I was looking for: Comfort, speed, quiet, and beauty, all in a wood bow. I surprised myself at actually being able to sell the rest of the bows I had, with little to no regret. Hopefully the time I put into this one bow will pay off this hunting season.

Best of luck to you this year

This will be my first year hunting but I am working on my set up. I will be shooting a Damon Howatt Hunter recurve 60@28. With Magnus broadheads mounted to a finished  douglas fir shaft weighing about 600 grains.

I have done a total switch. Last year I hunted with a compound.  I got bit by the stick bow bug around Thanksgiving last year and have had more fun shooting a stick bow so I traded the compound and have 3 recurves and 3 long bows.

I picked up an old Silvertip made by Paul with 3 sets of limbs. Know I feel like I have to hunt with it. OK, it's not a hard decision.  :)

I just got my fedora take down recurve two days ago. It's 53@29 and 54". I'm looking forward to practicing shooting it out my a treestand. It's 8 inches shorter than my other bow so I hope that makes it a little easier.

I got new setups.I hurt my shoulder and dropped weight a few lbs on most bows during the summer but my heavy bow will still be around 45lbs again this year.

Switched from 52# Carbon/Bamboo R/D Longbow to 41# ACS-CX.  I draw a full 29" so it is actually 44# @ my draw length.

I have been hunting with my Black Widow PSA III.
Then I deceided I wanted a nice longbow. So in february I ordered a Horne's Traditionalist. I really like that longbow. Then I went to Denton Hill and had no intention of buying another bow since I already had 2 nice ones. Anyway I ended up coming home with a Treadway longbow. I probably will hunt with one of my new longbows, but I haven't deceided which.

Me too, ordered my kota from tim in december and sold my wheeler in january when it arrived. have not looked back since! kill-um with bocate riser and bamboo limbs, 53# @ 26" shooting a heritage arrows. The awsome news is I drew my archery only elk tag and its 24 days and counting!!!!

MartinD

I switched from my BW recurve 63# that was getting to be too much weight to a Saluki Ibex 55# that is much easier to shoot comfortably. The Ibex is also alot lighter in the hand which is a plus.

Sold my older Blacktail TD and received my new custom built 55#@28" Blacktail TD from Norm! I just recently acquired a 3 month old RER Vortex 53#@28" that I am enjoying. I don't know if I will be confident enough to hunt with it this year or not. I am shooting it every night and getting more and more comfortable with it....?

Switched from my longbows to a Blacktail Elite Limited edition 49# @ 28" 62" amo Will be hunting with a curve for the first time since 1984 going for caribou. But will have a T/D longbow for backup. Just in case. LOL

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.
