Last night at a family cook out, my aunt gave me two sets of antlers(8pt and 6pt)that were my uncles who had recently passed away. This morning my daughter was looking at them and said if ya shoot a doe you dont have a souvenir like you do with a buck.

That got me thinking, and I would like to know and see who has doe mounts that they had done. Thanks Tim

My cousins first deer was a doe when he was 11. And my uncle mounted the butt with the tail up. Kinda funny but it looked cool on the wall. Next to the other deer.

This doe was my first deer with a bow. I started bow hunting big game in 1955 but didn't take a deer until 1962.

It was tough hunting back then, statistically only 1 in 20 bow hunters were successful each year.

I've taken a lot of deer with my bow since that time 50 years ago including some nice bucks, but there will never be another FIRST.

Here she is 50 years later. She aged pretty good don't you think?    :)

I've only seen one. A freind of the family that we used to hunt with had a doe mounted.  I remember it from when i was young.  I'm pretty sure that I would not ge a doe mounted.  But to each is thier own.

Here ya go Tim, this was my first deer with a recurve bow. Took me about 10 years of trying, so she meant alot to me.

What about those doe feet that get mounted as a sort of bow rack? Always thought they were cool. How much do those cost btw?

I don't understand why so many people belittle harvesting a doe , by not considering her a trophy.......I have two mounted as well as several smaller bucks along side my two bruisers....each one has special memories and both those does were MUCH harder to take than either of the big boys........I agree, it is up to the individual, but remember who taught that ole'buck....his momma !!!!!

I practiced my taxidermy on does, and have one left.  As earlier posts show, they can add dignity, especially when they mean something to you
