huntryx, I didn't get one either. I was going to call DEC this morning. Thanks for the info.  Fred
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

The person I spoke to said to give it a couple of weeks and call again if nothing arrives.

Hmm, I received mine last week but didn't look it over too well.  I better check when I get home.  Thanks for the heads up Susan.

Not gonna let my guard down this opening day! I'll have an arrow nocked BEFORE I walk out the door...   :dunno:   ... In fact, this year I'll be hunting with woodies! Just don't tell Swampy.   :p

*** Thanks for the information Susan. I'll check my tags when I get 'em. ***

Got out this afternoon with my boys.Hit the farm in Pittstown and we saw some good stuff but It was very dry still. A lot of the acorns were plump and healthy. Ran across another feral dog, theyre really driving us  crazy but theres no catching them and I dont have the stomach for the alternative. Hopefully theyll move along.

Izzy , hope the new property is looking good.

Its driving me nuts, not being able to check my camera until sat.

It seems so long ago that I was out there missing and scaring every deer in the county.  I pray that the good Lord continues creating a few deer that can be scared to death! javascript:void(0)

Had this little killer out with me yesterday, he's absolutely in love with the woods but they make him hungry. Poor feller was about to eat acorns. Ill remember a snack next time.

Izzy

This years setups both well tuned. 60" 52# Griffin with footed woodies and Abowyer Antelopes or CX 45/70s with 180 grain SFs. The self bow is a Glenbo special, rawhide backed osage 50# @ 28" shooting stone pointed cedars or an MFX 600 with 125 grain Snuffers. Both are whisper quiet and  dead on.  Bring it on!!!

Wetfeathers, I know that you may scare a few deer now and then, but you don't do much deer missing.

I was out scrambling to get some stands hung this week and ended up with some poison ivy all over my arms. You would think I should know better.I hope that you can get it done with the self bow Izzy.I also have a pair of some outstanding stone points given to me by a good friend that need to get used this year.

I've been shooting, practicing and preparing more for this season then any other in my 30+ years if hunting (mostly with wheels). Made a ghillie, camo'd my PAC seat, practicing now with broadheads. Also shot a lot of 3d courses this season, at least once a month. Was at OxTar last weekend. Tags came yesterday. Been out stumping and scouting bout 5 or 6 times already. I feel total confident in my equipment and ability out to 22 years. All I need is the opportunity to present itself. I hope!

Good luck to all! It's going to be a great season.

Good looking setups Izzy.  I'm glad you got the boy out with you.  How long before he can hunt?  He looks ready!

Pete, it looks like all that practicing has paid off.  You were shooting great at OxTAR!

Dragged my boys out this past Tuesday for one last scouting/fishin mission before school starts. We were up in The Moose River Plains Rec Area where I usually start my years hunting. Its one of them places that leave you with constant butterflies with every sight you take in.

We saw more turkeys than I have ever seen in the southern zone in a day, they were everywhere. Saw 2 doe and 2 fawns and a big old, brave coyote who stared us down only to walk off into a spruce bog before Noah could get the camera focused on him. No worries though, to see a big, old, Adirondack yote from 15 yards away is a primordial thrill. The boys and I thought so.

I located a pretty good looking funnel that I will hunt a time or two before southern zone. Now Im really pumped as if it wasnt bad enough already. A few pics for you all.

Izzy

Ill be heading back up solo in a couple weeks for some bear calling, no beech nuts to be found this year.

ronp

Outstanding!  Looks like you guys had a good time.  Thanks for sharing the pics   :clapper:
