Approx. 6 yrs. ago, give or take, i purchased a Stotler Gamegetter Elite off line used, well after about a yr of shooting it i discovered a crack in the riser where the shelf and riser meet. Since this was one of the finest bows ive ever shot i wasnt about sh*& can it, so i just hung it on the rack. Well about 2 weeks ago i got it down and went to work trying to save it, so with some basic tools, epoxy, hard wood pins and hillbilly ingenuity, i went to work.
Well folks after all that work i got to shoot it tonite for the first time, and WOW! what a pleasure! Since its been hanging so long i forgot what a great bow it really was. The structural work is now all done, and now its down to a total face lift as far as the finish goes.
Man there aint nothing like saving a great bow and putting it back in the field!   :goldtooth:

I'll tell ya, Stotler is one of those bows that really surprises you. I had heard they were pretty good, but I finally bought one and wow...just a dream to shoot. Fast, smooth easy draw, forgiving, just GREAT bows.
To hear you resurrected one makes you a hero in my book. Pics please!

Yornoc, ill get some posted soon, with before and after. I thought it was a loss, but i figured i had nothing to loose and everything to gain, so i thought , what the hell, ill give it a shot. It turned out better and i think stronger, than it originally was.

Way to go Moleman! I love my Stotler's. I have not been able to make it to any 3-d shoots for many years now so this past weekend I took my 14yr old son to the North Idaho Traditional bowhunters 3-d shoot (his 1st shoot believe it or not)Now granted there was a low turn out due to the weather but I took 1st place in the mens longbow class and my Son also took first in the youth longbow class! He turned in some very impresive scores both days! Yes you guessed it we were both shooting our GameGetter II  Stotler longbows!

The way this bow impressed me Gamegetter, is the reason it didnt go in the parts pile, its one of the most impressive bows ive ever shot.

Great to hear about those long lived stable bows that never go out of tune and aren't so persnickety about draw length, arrow weight, the time of day, etc. Good dependable bows never go out of style.

Ill post some before and after photos this week yet, once i get the facelift done. Structural is pretty much done, now its down to cosmetics. Im pretty exited about the finished product, its been time consuming, but worth it.   :bigsmyl:

Been good Chuck. now that I am no longer spending all my time building Stotler's I have accually had time to shoot... and it shows! My boy Noah is just a natural! I do miss building also though.
Cant wait to see the photo's of your finnished work Moleman. Keep us posted!

Ive salvaged a number of bows, but i thing this one is my Crown Jewel. This is the best pic ive got for now, you can still see the epoxy in places that has to be filed, sanded and cleaned up before final finish. [/IMG]

Thanks Dan, to me it just seems a waste, to not at least try to save a good one. So far my success on saving potential firewood bows is 8 wins 3 losses. I love the challenge of trying to save great bows and old classics. Shooting them on the range or on the hunt makes the work all worth while.
