Just wanted to show off my St. Jude win. It arrived yesterday and I snapped some pics.  It's a dual-shelf osage selfbow made and donated by Blkbird.  I think it's fantastic!  I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but so looking forward to it! This is my first experience with a selfbow.

I'm new to the site and really enjoyed the auction and watching the amazing generosity of everyone involved... I hope to do more next year! I already was lovin' this forum due to the wealth of information you all share, now I'm so pumped to be a part of such a great group of genuine, caring, and generous people!  Thanks to all who participated!    :bigsmyl:

Beautiful bow!  Thank you so much for supporting the St. Jude auction.  Let us know how your first date goes with your new bow.

Beautiful bow!

You probably know this, but since you said it was your first selfbow...

1. String it just before your shooting session starts, and unstrung it soon after you finish.  This will help keep it from taking on unnecessary "set," that robs power from the bow.

2. DO NOT let someone with a longer draw length than you pull the bow, unless one of YOUR cut-to-length arrows is on the string.  They could damage or break it for you!  Your normal draw length is the maximum "work" line for your bow.

There are a few more fine points, but these are the main two that came to mind.  Selfbows are WONDERFUL weapons.  They just require a l-i-t-t-l-e more care and though than their fiberglass and epoxy counterparts...

Enjoy, congratulations, and thanks!

Wise words, Hawkeye, and a beaut of a bow!
That would fit right in on a Hill style hog hunt, eh?

Congrats on the win, and bless you for your winning bid. You and the generous donation of a fine bow make a big difference to sick children.
Killdeer   :thumbsup:
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
