Well I was sitting on the fence, chewing my bubble gum (smack, smack, smack), doing my yo yo (duwop duwop duwop) when ALOONNNGG came the St. Jude's Auction.

And he was this big (------)

So I said, "St. Jude!! What happened to you?!"

And he said, "I got an awesome raffle!"

Told myself I wasn't gonna get caught up in this one.
But..... I haven't shot an Eastern in close to 20 years, time to change that.
Have never hunted Marty's lease, killed pigs all over Florida, never at Marty's..... time to change that.
Need to give a little more for the kids, and help get Bernie happy and heal.
So even though I never win raffles.... I'm in for 2.

Will Paypal as soon as I get home tonight and find the directions for doing it. May even go 6 by then.

Don Batten

Alrighty then. Just got home from playing some bluegrass with a few friends. I see the Beaufort Gang made a mad dash at the end. Thanks to each and everyone of you guys.

Also, thanks to everyone who participated in this raffle. I had an email from Bernie when I got home that said he was back home.
My plan is to get all the names and tickets together and head down his way this weekend and film him drawing the winner and two alternates. Hope to have it up on pow wow by sunday night. Thanks again. I'll make one more post on here when I get a final tally but i'm sure we are over 6 grand.  fantastic.

My heart is smiling from ALL of your efforts for this great offer and The Worthy Cause behind it.

Wish I could "draw" every one of you winners - but then you all are anyway.

Beth, did you come up with that handle on your own? I love it. I'm actually thinking of getting T- shirts made up with "Sissy Pearline" on them.  thanks again. Don
Don,

The story behind Sissy Pearline....I am section hiking the Appalachian Trial with 5 other people.  We call ourselves the "6 Pack".  Anyone that hikes regularly has a trail name.  Mine is Sissy Pearline.  I "earned/approved" this name on a weekend trip a couple of years ago.  We had planned a hike that wove in and out of NC and TN.  On this particular trip I had a stress fracture in my foot (running injury) and it was actually questionable as to whether or not I would be able to make the trip.  I went and as we were hiking we ran into a man from Tennessee that was out working his bear dogs (bar dogs, as he pronounced it).  After this encounter I came upon a dog that was limping, thin, and looked down-trodden.  She was walking the trail in the other direction.  I"m not a sucker for every animal that walks by but I felt for this dog.  I gave her a little food and she followed me to camp.  I was very worried about how thin she looked and that she looked beaten up.  Our group picked on me & claimed I could "relate" to the dog.  We were in the same boat, so to speak.  Darby, even tried to tell me she was not too thin but that Americans overfeed their animals & she was actually healthy.  We nicknamed her Pearline.  Slightly poking fun at the accents of some of the people we had met.  We had called the owner of the dog earlier & he located us at camp to pick up "Pearline".  When he arrived we found out that Pearline was heading home, she had been treeing bears all day & was perfectly healthy.  As he was leaving we asked her name.  It was Sissy.  Ever since, I have been known as Sissy Pearline, Sissy P or just Sissy.  That's how I earned my trail name.

Guru

That's a cool story and a great way to earn a nickname    :campfire:
