For anyone waiting on the draw results for elk tags in Colorado they have them posted online this morning. I did my usual check this morning and was happy to see I drew my tag for units 23,24, and 33 archery of course. Guess its time to start building a new bow for the trip.

Holy cow! Just checked and it looks like I'm headed to the Flattops...

Maybe ill see you there brad congrats

I justed checked and I drew a limited area on a second chance drawing. Not bad, still saving points to go back to hunt the unit I hunted in 2008 and still get to hunt a draw unit this year........after I get back from South Africa.

Two hunts in two months is going to be tuff.....but I'll suffer thru it.  :biglaugh:

Congrats on the tags in the Flattops.  I have spent a decent amount of time hunting there and have had some great hunts.

I too have hunted the flattops. This year it will be my Son and I on a DIY pack in hunt. We both drew!

Good luck to all.

Where you guys go to apply for these elk hunts and how do you know which zones are preferable??

Sorry for the question but I am interested and have no real knowledge of Colorado elk hunts.

USN_Sam1385:  Click on the link I've attached to this message. Colorado Parks & Wildlife has one of the best websites you'll find anywhere.  Click on 'Hunting' on the left side of the page/3rd down is 'Plan Your Hunt', open that page...lots of stuff to search through.  The website also has a tutorial called 'Elk Hunting University'...again, lots of good stuff to peruse.  One good thing about Colorado is they have a lot of Over The Counter licenses, meaning you don't always need to apply to be able to hunt.  Though you didn't apply this year, if you have a hunter education card you can still show up at a license agent and buy a bull license.  On August 15th all after-the-draw 'Leftover' licenses will be available on a first come basis.  Another popular site on their website is the Big Game/Hunt Guide.  These are free to download and give great information on each unit in the state.  If that isn't enough, CPW has hunt planners (real, live people) who you can talk to  and who'll answer all your questions.  Phone # is (303) 291-7227.  Good luck!

I got rejected with two points for a area that normally only takes one point to draw!! O well, my buddy knows a good  over the counter area and found a set of sheds from a seven by nine there! Will try to upload the pics in a bit when I get to my computer, and I don't feel as bad now for not drawing for some reason....

Where do I find this info? Never mind found it.
Looks like I'm chasing big bucks in my backyard. And if it goes well I can get an elk from the bedroom window.
