Those are some creepy looking snakes with their fat bodies and big head full of fang. Ugghhhh, chill bumps

They have awesome skin patterns and colors, though....that would be a cool lookin bow

Edit. Double post...dont know why it does that

Troy Breeding

A fellow down in AL used Gaboon Vipers on one of his selfbows. He got them from a fellow that raised exotic snakes. As he said "they are bad, mean and deadly, but can't handle the southern heat. Both snakes died the same day.

I suspect a different problem. They are from the sub saharan region of Africa.

It's not the heat. It's the humidity.    :p

I'm not huge fan of skinned limbs, but this may be a worthwhile endeavor.

I had a woman willing to sell me her last two, but wanted 650.00 for the two skins. She made fishing rods with the blank wrapped in skins up to the first guide.
Too pricey for me though.
How are ya Ronny?

I always wanted to put gaboon or rhino viper skins on a bow. I almost bought a couple live gaboons at a venomous show.I could have got them for a very cheap price. The cage they came in was worth the asking price. I thought it over and decided against it.I figured I'd get tagged for sure, while I was growing them up to size. They're placid, mellow snakes, but can strike like lightning at any angle, including straight back over their head.I was told by a friend that had them that they do get more active at night though.Rhino skins would be awesome on a bow!

I'd never heard of Rhino Viper until now. Wow! What a gorgeous pattern.

Would think you'd need a very wide limb to get the "full" effect of the skin with it being so large/wide.  Maybe a pyramid style bow?  Many markings and colors would be lost on longbow or even recurve.  Beautiful skins nonetheless!

I've never seen either specie before, fat and freaky looking, but very cool patterns.
