I plan on bidding for such a good cause, every penny helps.  It has been a tough year on everyone, but I have been thinking about it in a positive light, alot of things are driven by perception,

I joined 5 years ago almost to the day. my member number is 12391. There are now over 36,000 members. This auction should be through the roof with 24,000 new members. Thats 24,000 new members. Could it be that we now have a different kind of member and the site is changing? Just saying...there is more to it than just the economy.

Go look at the member numbers of the donors. You will be hard pressed to find a member number higher than 20,000. In fact the majority of the donors have member numbers below 10,000. It really doesn't cost anything to donate something to the auction. Really can't blame that on the economy can you?

The difference is last year or two there was a knife build-a-long, and a bow or two being built, and some other projects that people were working on, which generate interest in several forums. Other than that, Skyler had a one-man show going on.

I've been working on a small item for the auction. If it gets to close to the deadline, I'll list it and add pictures later.

I agree with Biggie, however I think the problem is bigger than just the administration ( that would be a good start though) I think it is a world wide issue and it affects everywhere.

The auction has been awesome for several years with some big money raised for a great cause.  I think we may have got use to it and assumed it would always happen.  Times are definitely tough,  but we may surprise ourselves and still have a great auction.  If we don't reach the heights we have in the past it will still be something we can be mighty proud of. Now I'm going to get off my butt and find some items  to post up for the kids.

I like the "$20 gets you a chance" idea. On anything big...bow, hunt, quiver, doz arrows, etc.

If 10,000 members parted with just two Jackson's, or heck, just one Jackson, that'd bust it at the seams.


I'm pumped. Maybe not as much $ as last year financially, but I'm in for something.

I'm going home and go through the shooting bench and junk drawers. Surely I have something more to add to the listings.

I'd love to participate, but I literally have to bring my lunch to work every day to save money. Maybe some day when my wife strikes it rich. But good for all of you guys that can and are chipping in to help. It's a good cause.

I private messages this so called horatio1226 which I bieleve is Greek for toothless ole gummer and this is the reply I got  from the duffer
"Never happen! The old duffers "own" the auction. Plus you are waaaaay behind from the start!!!Trust me when I tell you, the old duffers cannot be beat."

Now I agree they do have a big head start on us but being old and decrepit I think in all fairness the should get a headstart.
