I can't take any more beautiful pics of everyone's wooden arrows so I might get some for a little birthday present to myself.  I've seen lots of great pics and posts from our venders to choose from.
My question is I've never shot a wooden arrow so not sure what I need for spine, etc.  Don't  want to spend $100 and not fly perfect.  I will of course check Stu's calculator prior.  What should I do? Ask the maker what they suggest? Can't really bare shaft tune.
I'm shooting BW PSA 52# at 26"
Thanks for the help!

If you are looking at Surewoods I think they sell a "test kit"

Congratulations!!!!! You've just decided to really enjoy your trad. bow.

I think Hitman's suggestion is a good one. I'd think any custom arrowsmith would be really willing to talk with you & give you their advise with their arrows.

Another suggestion would be to call 3-Rivers, a sponsor here & ask them. I've called or emailed 3-Rivers several times & they are always willing to help.
I think you are going to like "woodies" they are a lot of fun.

Thought about a test kit but I don't have any glue on points either to test

If you get a test kit they'll usually come with 125gr tips. Then, after getting the right arrow, fine tuning can occur with brace height, arrow length, and tip weight.

Get with a sponsor arrowsmith and speak with them. You won't go wrong placing a 15 minute call to one or two of them. Then compare the input of each.

Congratulations. I switched to wooden arrows (Surewood) last year. They fly as good as any arrow material and maybe a little better. I enjoy making the shafts into arrows as much as I like shooting them. Once you find the right spine, length and point weight I bet you will love them too. I dont see myself ever shooting anything else as long as good shafts are available.

Do yourself a favor and contact Duane at Dink's Feather Shop (One of our sponsors here) if you want port orfords... Believe me, there is nothing better than the smell of a broken, bloody, port orford on a cold November day! If douglas fir is your choice, then Snag is the go-to man! Both guys are great to deal with!
