House I like that bow rack. Mine is Cedar arrows into a cedar board. I need to kill a few bucks and I may make one like yours. Great pics.

Matt thats not a good idea, hang them by a peg or coat hook on the back of a door. Mine are strung and hung by a single peg

I keep mine hung mostly strung, and some unstrung on rubber coated bicycle hooks on each end off the garage ceiling.

Strung bows hang by the string, un-strung bows from the limbs.

Easy access and out of the way....

My brothers recurve limbs twisted from lying strung flat under the bed for a month last winter.

Pat B here is a pic of my bow rack it is a piece of Sassafras with holes to accept some pre-made pegs I bought at a lumberyard.

I took the pic with my phone and it is pretty grainy but does the job.

Thanks Bjorn.  I couldnt figure out how you were getting the bows to hang that way.. Now it's clear!

nice looking racks guys!   I dont have anything quite as fancy....been needn an excuse to build something more good'r  ;)

gutpile580

I leave mine strung on one peg  i guess that is ok have not had any problems that i know of???

JamesKerr

I unstring all of my bows and put them in a case when I am done shooting them for the day. When I go to shoot them the next day I just unzip the case they are in and string them up. The way I figure if I pay $800 for a custom bow I want it to either be strung up while hunting or shooting it or unstrung and in a case protected.

lpcjon2 Those Hill heads were tough to find in the original packaging. That dozen heads originally sold for 4.95-says so right on the package.

Like this.... this rack is 6' wide and will hold 36 Longbows [at 3 per peg] or 24 recurves [at two per peg].  If I have them equipped with a bow quiver, then each gets a peg by it's self to keep them from touching.  I usually have a combination on L/B's and R/C's so the number hanging at any one time varies a bit.. I usually hang them un-strung unless it's a bow I'm hunting with or shooting often.

That is a great find,$4.95 back then was probably around the todays $50.00 mark.

I store all of them horizontally, unstrung, and in bow socks.

So I notice some of you say you leave some strung while hanging... How long can you leave a bow strung?

I was kinda under the impression that you should un-string them once your done shooting or hunting... But is it ok to leave them strung for a weekend of hunting or something like that?

Cyclic-Rivers

I've heard of some bows staying strung for 60+ years and still going strong.
