I am looking for advice on a string for my 1964 Zebrawood Grizzly. It is 45 lbs. and I have a B-50 string on it now. I realize the lighter poundage and non-fastflight ill never shoot like my higher end bows. But I am hoping to get a crisper release and better performance out of my grizzly.

Any better options for a string anyone would recommend ???

Contact any of the sponsors on here.  They can answer any of your questions and also make you a great string.  I'm using a D55 string on my 1971 Grizzly.  It was made by one of the sponsors.

You might try a 10 or 12 strand B-55 and made so you dont have too many twists in the string.Should help if the string your currantly using is thicker than a 10 or 12 strand.

Check out our Lefties R us B55 strings. The B55 has less stretch than the older B50.  I build them with a low twist count to save a little weight.

Night Wing

If I was going to go with a non fastflight string, I'd go with 12 strands of B-55.

The only options in dacron are B-50, B-500, and B-55.  B-55 is supposed to be the strongest with the least stretch/creep, but the difference is minimal.  How the string is made will make more difference IMO.

I agree with Night Wing--12 strands of B-55--but chances are you'll see/feel little if any difference between it and your old string.

Hate to say it...but..

About the only way to get less stretch out of a dacron string is to prestretch it thoroughly and then use more strands..

Otherwise I agree with Nightwing and LBR.

What is the breaking strength of B55?

stronger than b50?

BCY quit publishing breaking strengths.  B-55 is supposed to be a tad bit stronger than B-500, so it's probably around 50-55# test.

More strands will have less/slower stretch.  Pre-stretching will help some, but as soon as the tension is removed it will draw back up--have to let it settle back in every time you string your bow.

In my experience B50 breaks consistently at just over 25# regardless of mfg claim.
