Speaking of practice, I've been doing a lot of overtime lately so I'm going to buy myself a pig target for my at home range. Anyone have any suggestions, I don't have much experience with 3d targets so any help is appreciated.

I think they should be "tightly" handled.Only people that show up can get one and any leftovers be auctioned at St. Judes. This is a special event for HILL style bowhunters and if the shirts are limited to that they would become special and maybe bring a few bucks for some needy kids.RC
Cool idea right there. [/b]

For preparation purposes, do you guys have any advice beyond being able to shoot and dressing for the weather?  I assume snakes aren't an issue with temps in the 20's to 50's?  What kind of terrain is in the area? Does anyone have photos of the general area from past hunts that they can share?  Finally, what kind of hunting are we looking at...mostly spot and stalk?

Thanks,

Paul check out any of RC's hunts for pics of the general area.

This may be covered somewhere in the pages of posts, but I am assuming deer archery season will be over, or can I buy a deer license?

We had a person die from a rattler snake bite this weekend in Louisiana.  I wouldn't worry about snakes, but I wouldn't forget they could be around at that time with some warm weather either.

Paul-

It would be mostly spot and stalk for hogs and small game, unless you bring a treestand. From my conversations with RC, you going to want to wear boots due to the swampy areas.

RC posted some pics on a seperated thread a couple of weeks ago when he went out scouting.

Maybe if RC sees this he can post some pics here on this thread.

I'll throw my 2 cents in here. I like the big Logo on the back with a smaller one on either side in the front. I just think it makes for a better looking shirt.

If we take a group photo then put them on backwards...    :knothead:

1st Hill Gang Hog Hunt

This hunt is a Hill style bow only hunt.

Several months ago the guys that contribute to the Hill thread had an idea to hunt together. Within the last week, plans we're made to hog hunt Southern Georgia because it offered many opportunities for wild hog and easy access flying into Atlanta.

As the date gets closer, we will need to plan the logistics.

The hog hunt will take place on a WMA, 2/22, 2/23, 2/24 of 2013.

Camping will be primitive.
Several members in Georgia have offered to bring camping and cooking equipment.
Food bill can be divided amongst everyone.
Archery equipment can be shipped ahead of time to a member in Ga. or Fl.
If you're flying in to Atlanta try to carpool with another member.
If you're driving south try to carpool with another member.
We should have enough tents and sleeping bags to accommodate everyone that's flying in.
Guys that are driving, bring a target with you, so we can practice and do any fine tuning.
WMA license $73.00
3 Day hunting license $20.00

Hmmm... I would have sworn that I had made my intentions of being there known but my name doesn't appear on the list.

Maybe some who can read lists will correct me if I'm wrong..lol ro if by some chance I read it right then maybe the list can be updated with my name.

Thanks!

Good news fellas if we run out of "room" on this wma across the River is about 15000 more acres of prime land. This is a beautiful place as well as Oaky Woods WMA across the River.I`ve killed hogs here in winter but as I`ve said it is tuff hunting this time of year.Small game and pigs will be in season.
I would bring a thermacell and good walking shoes as well as a pair of rubber boots. Snakes are active anytime of year here on sunny days above 50 degrees or so. Just be careful and watch where you step and you will be fine.
I will post a few pics of the place and maybe a kill or two later.Lord Willing I`m headed over tomorrow for a hunt.RC

Snakes and the poisonous kind. I do not like snakes period!!!.
