One of 2 javelina's I shot.

The biggest one I have taken in about 10 years of bow hunting on this ranch.

Going to have the skull cleaned and save it

Everyone had a good time. The weather was warm and nice to get out of the Colorado snow and cold.      :archer:

That is one big javie! Probably didn't smell any better than the smaller ones   :bigsmyl:

Nice one Gene. That looks bigger than the one Kade shot a few years back. That will make some great sausage. You coming to the Triple Crown this month?

acolobowhunter

Planning on the Triple Crown (21st?)

Until this pig I had the record at 59 lbs.  Everyone was getting a little to close, so had to up the bar some.

Hey Gene Congrats. I can do the Skull for you if you want.

I heard you down in the area I was guiding in. I took one almost that exact same size.

We were hunting in West Texas - Ft. Stockton area.  Just as a side note, I called in several javelina using a preditor call.  I also tried setting out a javelina 3D target as a decoy.  It didn't bother the little ones, but the big ones came up to it and were really mad, they bristled up their hackle then took off.  The calling worked much better.  I took a bunch of video, but have not viewed it yet.

Night Wing

That's a real nice javelina. Good tusks on him too.

Javelina is my favorite animal to stalk and this is why I prefer the "spot and stalk" method for them.

I tried "calling" one time and a small group of about eight of them came charging my way and stopped about 15 yards from me. That really unnerved me when they were that "up close and personal" and popping their jaws.
