I've been interested in making a ghillie but don't know if I need the pants. Can I get by with the top if I'm mostly sitting. Does anyone use a bush rag?

i use top an bottom more of the thread type of material..used it in Montanna had mule deer walking by at 10 yards..

In my experience I use the top and bottoms if just sitting, if trying to stalk I use just the top. I don't know if the burlap type of ghille is any better or not but I have the string type and it picks up everything it touches.

Man i like to make stuff instead of buy it thats a cool deal and I will have one before turkey season.

I hope you wear something on the bottom lol. If you are going to sit then the top should work even if you stand before you shoot.

I thought some of those were pretty expensive but found a decent one at  http://www.allpredatorcalls.com/
for $59- pants, jacket, head cover and weapon cover

Its not the heavyweight pro ghillie suit but a guy could add to it as needed. It looks pretty good on once you fluff it up out of packaging and I think it was a heck of a good deal
