I have wished for years that the CDOW would see that turn-about is fair play and give the archers on the west slope some sort of late archery hunt so we can hunt them during the rut. I think it is only fair, they give the rifle hunter an early highcountry mule deer hunt. My main reason for the rant is I saw this brute again today

Very nice Jason. With the current mulie population, don't hold your breath for that late season.

Next week will be the first time I've ever hunted  the late mule deer season. We have snow falling right now. The rut is going full steam. Life is good.

You can hunt the rifle seasons with a bow ( with the proper lic.) Here in Colorado

Elksong

I have hunted the rifle seasons that way, it's not the same.

Head to eastern CO. It's fun to travel and hunt new areas anyway, right?

Tracey - I have been build points for a unit out on the plains. I think I will draw next year! Looking for a whitetail out there though....

Look at the neck on that guy! I love seeing rutting mule deer. Hopefully I can find one like that this weekend. Thanks for sharing!

Jason I was out stump shooing last weekend and jumped a brusier just like that one. He had no idea what startled him so I stood motionless as he stared the other direction, he was perfectly broadside and only 17 yards away. He was a heavy horned 4 point, with deep even forks on both sides. Best part of it is he's only 3 miles from my house so I have 4 different trail cameras placed to try and get him on film.

wow that is a great deer.  I've got a couple of bucks cruising our 'hood for does too.  All our young trees are wrapped in chicken wire until the rut is over.....

Crappy picture, he was a long way away, but a great deer!

Gotta love them mulies! Nice pics.

I wish we could hunt the rut here, but the G@F won't let us. They say the bowhunters would kill all the big buck. Ya right  "[dntthnk]"

You guys are killing me.  Oh, those big mule deer are awesome!  Can't see burning points for WT in eastern CO when NE and KS are not that far a ride.  But that is coming from a guy who WILL drive 18 hours to get to some good WT hunting!

knobby

Those are some great mulies. I guess you're only option is to continue to share those photos with us. Thank you!

Glunt

I don't see it happening, but it would be a great hunt.  It seems like when we want to explore a new or changed season, we get told we don't kill enough to be an effective management tool or we would kill too much.  Whichever answer results in a "no" is the one you get.

Great pics.

Man, I'd love to shoot a big Mulie. Great picts as usual Elksong.
