Katie, that is EXACTLY what I have been hearing from all my friends in IA, , IL, WI, MO, and KS. One day it is crazy good, the next two or three are dismal. Just make sure you are out ther on the good days!

Those memories will last a life time!

Amazing moment, glad you were able to witness it! Man, what a truly unique experience.

Sounds like a great hunt Katie! I love this time of year in the woods, one day it's dead, one day they are everywhere!

I had a couple little guys thrash it out in front of me at under 20yds, seen a few booners this year too, 1 at 15 yds and he looked right up at me and walked away, way to much brush to get an arrow through but a 170+ 10 point is an awesome site when they are that close..

You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Steve- let me know what day will be a good day and I will hunt it;)

Wildwood- No it was my JK Traditions Kanati. I like to switch bows after shooting deer. Shot a doe with the Maddog recurve a few weeks ago. So I switched to the Kanati for the next one.

Jason- Was that big boy up near you or down here by your folks?

He was down by my folks Katie, Northern Warren County. We dont have deer like that up here, well a few maybe. So few I dont hunt here, just there!

Yet for me, today tops even my biggest buck! Just a blast to witness that kind of raw natural power up close.
I'd say that makes you the truest of hunters right there, Gal.

Congrats on a fine day and a better take on it than most people in today's world who live by score cards!

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
