Going Moose hunting next week with trad gear for the first time. Would really like hear from the guys that got a moose with trad gear. What kind of bow, weight, penetration, arrow weight, broadhead, and how far the shot was. Pictures would be great too. My set up is a 60# wolverine cari-bow at 28 inch. Arrow is a 29 1/4 inch 400 mfx with 100 gr brass insert tipped with either a 125gr woodsman and 125gr steel adapter or 150gr grizzly with 100gr steel adapter. What do you guys think.

I shot a nice cow in NH in 2007. I used a DAS riser with 60# Winex limbs. Arrows were Beman MFX with 200 grain Razorcaps. Hit the moose at 20 yards, hit heart. lungs and she was down in 3 steps.

The best things in life....aren't things!

Cari-bow

I used allmost the same set up as you 2 years ago.I little less weight 53# and sent the broadhead through the moose once at 12 yds. and again at 25 yds.The result was moose down in the water after 50yds of travel. No time to add pic's now.

I shot a small bull moose a few years back in BC Canada. My set up was a 55# Bill Stewart Longbow, cedar arrows by Suzanne St Charles, and Magnus wide two blades. Double lung shot at about ten yards and a 100 yard or so recovery. Complete pass through. My hunting partner shot his bull moose about fifty yards from me less than ten minutes after I shot mine. We ended up having four moose come to our calling. Randy was shooting a Bill Stewart recurve 55#, carbon arrows, and thunderhead 125's. His shot was also a double lung pass through.

I would go with the woodsman. Just wondering how they fly 400 seem to be a little light in spine for that much weight @ 60#? Just my opinion.

Just got back from scouting. Lots of sign. thanks for the feedback. My 400 fly really good. I think I only draw about 27inchs for earl jeff. Will let you guys know how I make out next week.

Gun

Stick with the 3 blade. You'll do fine with that set-up. Last years Bull shot with 52# longbow and wensel heads. Using same this year.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.
