Sticker shock at PO

Last week I unloaded a lot of stuff....points, shafts, a fletching jig. Got it all packaged up this weekend and took it all to the PO this AM.  Ten dollars+ to send 100 field points to KY!!!!!!! Sorry for all who are waiting for stuff from me but it all went Parcel Post. Will take a couple of extra days (this time next week you should all have your stuff) but I saved about $30 by not going Priority. Back when I was making arrows (mid 90's) it cost me $3 to send a dozen arrows Priority to Alaska!!!  I can't wait until inflation rears its ugly head.

Did ya try to use the flat rate shipping?
The boxes are free & they are resonable for the most part.

When I ship my lead projectiles I use the smallest FRS box that they would comfortably fit in & ship em that way, no weighing either.

Yea you should have used a small Flat rate box for them points it would have only been $5.95 shipping and it goes priority.

But I know what you mean on sticker shock from there. I just sent 42#'s of traps to Iowa it cost almost $50 then I came home and check, she over charged me $20 I got my money back on that one when I called them.

With the P.O. losing money every day, cost of shipping will only keep climbing.

I ship quite a bit through the Post Office. I've noticed some people there will help to save you some money and others just ship it however you pack it, or ask it to be shipped. Next time ask them if there is a cheaper way. You never know.

I just shipped a one piece longbow Priority mail for 15 dollars, insured. I think some made a mistake!!

That is not really a bad price for shipping a one piece.

That's strange, I did the flat rate thing here and it was 8.95 and that was for the smallest box. I also found that I was paying extra for priority and it was actually taking longer to get where it was going, by 2-3 days!

Did you try click and ship on the USPS web page. It is a little cheaper doing it yourself instead of going to the Post Office. Your carrier will then pick it up for you. Don't have to waist your time and gas.

I feel ya. It is hard to estimate and judge how much to charge for shipping. Still though buying from these fine members here at trad gang save you money over retail stores like Bass Pro and Cabelas.

I sent 100+ feathers today and it cost me darn near $5 for an 4x6 envelope and delivery confirmation.

I just shipped a 3 pc longbow priority mail insured.
My wife took it to the PO when she came back she told me it was 43.00. I was shocked.

That does sound a little high for that, I don't know.  A few months ago I shipped a one piece longbow to California Priority and insured for around 17 bucks...it was funny because I took it to the Post Office to ship and the lady behind the counter couldn't beleive it was only that to ship it.  I told her that was about what they always were.  I bet she measured and weighed that tube 5 times to try and get it to be more than 17 bucks

Think that's bad I had a gent from down under wanting to buy a one piece bow from me. The shipping was more than what he was paying for the bow. Had it been a three piece the price was less than half. Did I mention that the cheapest way would have taken more than month.

Yep, I shipped a one piece recurve a few weeks ago. I sent it priority, with del conf, and insurance for $300...it cost me over $40 in postage   :eek:

For shipping small stuff I always ask the lady at the po what is the cheapest way to ship this.  Then she tells me what box/padded envelope to put it in.  I shipped my leatherman from PA to Oregon for like 2$ or something silly.
