I had just put on some STOS heads on some tamarack shafts. Wanted to test them out for flight so at 20 yds I shot at a broadhead target. The arrow flew great...right at the shot-out center! The 620gr arrow had no problem cutting through what foam there was and hitting the 1/2" plywood back drop! The head penetrated almost all the way through the plywood. Had to heat up the head and pull the shaft off the head. It will take some doing to cut that head out of the plywood. Tip is straight! No curling! haha

Among the laminated tip, glue-on BHDs STOS are the most bomb proof IMHO. Would have been more surprised if it had bent or curled.

You should be able to stack up a few sheets, if you can find them. When does the season come in?  :D

Sounds great... and I'm not surprised!

Stos is my favorite broadhead for moose but I sure wish that they would make a slightly heavier model.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.

By your heading I was expecting to see some horrible slicing and dicing of human tissue. Thank goodness it was only plywood!

When I shoot a 2 blade broadhead, it's a STOS, great heads!

Man you scared me.

"Accidentally" and "broadhead" do not belong in the same sentence!

That being said, the performance of the STOS doesn't surprise me, I use them too.

Maybe if you had sharpened them first you wouldn't have this problem.

Arentcha' glad your wife's car wasn't where the plywood was?
I think the STOS heads are the price performance kings!

vise grips and a claw hammer work great for getting them out of the wood..

The STOS has no problem slicing right through the 55 gallon metal burn barrel out in the back yard either......kinda hard on the surewood shaft though......

Hopewell Tom

Good one Snag. I looked up the Stos site and think I'll try a pack in 145 and 160. One of those should work on the arrows you made for me. I'm not going to shoot any plywood though...

Oh come on Tom, you got to try the plywood test! haha
I was impressed with these tamarack shafts too. No damage.
I think I'll construct a little different back drop though.

David , I had a friend that did that test with the radiator of his truck, glad yours stayed in the plywood.

When I was shooting heavy arrows last year, I was using a STOS 130 grain broadhead. The tip never curled. STOS are awesome.
