Hey where did Steve go (jacobsladder)
Thanks RC now he will never go when it's warmer out. I've been trying to get him to wait for the weather to start to warm before we go down..lol

My Uncle was gonna stomp a black racer that was in the barn once for us kids, kinda showing off. It ran about half up his overhauls and he screamed and cussed like a little girl.He still gets mad 40 years later when we bring that up.RC

This is one reason that I really enjoy living in northern ontario! The other reasons are,no tornados, hurricanes tsunami's,earthquakes, lyme diseased ticks, etc only cold winters with a lot of snow.

Almost forgot, it,s almost impossible to trip on a Black Bear.LOL

That's some nice looking rattleheadedcoppermoccasins.

You are correct.  The mocassins are the ones that will come after you.  Canebrake rattlers will not go after you, but they will stand their ground and strike. Copperheads will remain motionless and hope you leave them alone. I walk up on them from time to time.  Had one crawl up my leg  sitting motionless on the ground turkey hunting one morning, it was a wild morning!

Oh yeah, and as usual RC, great pics, thanks for taking us along.

I love it. I had an "uncle" that was a licensed herpatologist, so I was kinda raised with snakes.
At Ft. Benning, during basic, I showed off my skills by catching a cottonmouth while on FTX. The drill sgts were NOT happy. LOL.
Great pics RC.

When you live and hunt down here you just get used to them being there. You will probably walk past and step over more than you actually see. Where I hunt you can walk down the access roads and it sounds like a squadron of B-29s warming up in the woods. Mosquitoes can be quite noisy. The only snake I have yet to see here is the Eastern Coral snake. Everything is else is quite abundant in the these woods. It is illegal to kill them on the NWRs here in Mississippi.

RC...great photos HOWEVER...you have convinced me I'd rather remain up here in the Northeast chasing around and side stepping these critters...

Love it RC, thanks for posting! Keep scaring away the other yankees and I'll have no problem finding a bunk in camp!

Critters like that, that ain't tough enough to handle OUR winters, should be no concern!      :nono:

While theyre all beautiful, I cant say Ive ever seen one prettier than that hog nose. I love snakes but do have healthy respect for the poisonous ones. RC, You oughta have your own show on Nat Geo.Thanks for the pics.

limbolt

Gotta love the hog nose,if he can't scare you off he'll roll over and play dead.LOL.

Those things scare the absolute heck out of me......bears, wolves, coyotes, LaClair pissed off because I ate all the pie....ANYTHING but snakes!

Another reason I love hunting with RC, he appreciates all of God's creatures, even the semi-dangerous ones.  But why doesn't he have any close-ups like this....

Let's see,on my property I have no mosquitos, no snakes, no gators, no ticks or crazy ants, just deer, hogs, grouse, squirrels, yotes, fox and groundhogs.  Life is good.  I did see a garter snakes once but I gave it a warning with my tractor and haven't seen it since.
