But when recently sitting pondering something (I was nervously eyeing some photos I took of a BIG buck last night), I absent-mindedly bit off the hard callous from my index finger that I'd built up from shooting 20-50 arrows daily. Luckily I realized it halfway through so the damage isn't too bad.

Any of the rest of you ever do that? And then for a few days it's a little tender while shooting? Like I said, I caught myself early and just shot 40 arrows with no ill effect, but it just reminded me of how I've done that so many times in the past without even thinking of it until I'd removed my shooter's callous.

I have been shooting with a glove the last 21 years, but I still can remember my compound days when I was using a tab. Ouch!

Killy- I had a college roommate who actually did that to his toenails... ALL the time. Was I ever glad when that year was over!!!

Now I know how to spell callouses...I hope.

If it`s wrong it will forever be burned into my memory that way.

I shoot without a glove or a tab quite often, and if I knawed mine off, a good part of my finger would be gone.
