Possibly my favourite thread this year, amazing pictures. Can't wait to get back into the Elks backyard again next Fall. I spend 24months looking forward to my Bi-yearly Elk hunts in Colorado.
We are here for a good time , not a long time .

Sweet pics guys!  You're makin' me jealous being able to hunt in September.  My elk hunting won't be until December when I come home for the holidays.  I'm just excited to have the chance to get out, even if it's going to be dark, wet and cold!  Any elk huntin' is good elk huntin'!

My photos aren't current, but in 2007, I was in Colorado on businss.  We went up to Estes Park to look around, and there in the city park by the lake were about 2 dozen elk, 8 to 10 of them bulls.  All the bulls, except 1 looked like this-all busted up.

This guy, however, was loud and proud.

He bugled constantly, had his harem around him.

These are the only free roaming elk I've ever seen, being an Easterner.  I am so envious of you folks that get to see them when you want!!!

Oh boy. These pix got my blood up. Either that or I've suddenly had too much coffee.

Nice.

selfbow it is fun to go to estes and watch the elk close up, I do it all the time it is like having a classroom, you learn all the sounds that they make you get to study body structure at different positions, but I really enjoy the "wild" elk even more, it is a lot of fun to find a herd of elk, I have seen them in some weird places, but there also found in your classic elk spots.

It these types of threads that remind me I really need to bring a camera with me when I'm out walking the woods. Great photos!
