Just finished this knife up for a professional hunter in South Africa. This is my Autumn Hunter model with fancy Claro Walnut scales and mosaic pins. The steel is D-2 and 61.5 Rockwell. Thanks for looking!

Wow!  I think I may need one of those!  How much do you charge for a knife like that?

Ringneck

Thanks, guys! Awbowman, the advantage of doing several deer before you need to touch up your blade is a big plus! Ask Tom Bohl, his Autumn hunter is 61.5 also. And D-2 has great edge stability at the higher RC when heat treated with a good recipe. I temper for a 60.5-61.5 window.

Ringneck

Jon, the Autumn Hunter starts at $200. Price as shown is $265.

Sweet knife! I'll have one of yours someday, maybe when the IRS fixes the mess they made of my taxes.   :scared:

I assume the blade isn't too prone to chipping being that hard ???

Does that price include the scabbard ?

Ringneck

Yes, a pouch sheath is included with all knives and I can do flap sheaths if requested. The edge stability is excellent and chipping is not a problem.

I am here to tell you that if you somehow squeeze the budget to buy one of Shawn's knives you won't be disappointed.
I have one of his larger knives he gifted me with (thanks TG for a wonderful friendship) and also one of the Autumn Hunters. I used my AH to dress, quarter, and bone out 5 deer last fall and didn't touch up the blade. To say I was imressed was an understatement. Saw no reason to suspect that chipping would result from normal usage as it handled joint connections with ease as the blade size is perfect for the deer in my area.
The bigger knife was used for skinning for those deer that made it home and held its edge as well.
I have a had a few knives in the last 50 years and know one thing-these will stay with me until I go to the final hunting grounds.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Shawn, once again very impressive!

Thanks again guys   :)  .  Just FYI, if anyone has a special type of wood they like or would want a knife to match a favorite bow, let me know. I like happy customers and will do what I can to please.   :campfire:

Beautiful knife. Very graceful and my favorite size. That's a nice clean mark on the blade. I usually stamp mine before heat treating, but get forgetful once in a while (more and more often every day:-( ) Do you cut your own stencil, or have them made. I wrote Electro Chem etch, but their response left a bit to be desired and my stencil is totally worn out.
