Carp tip!

I took the boys (dogs) for a walk along the Erie canal today for a looksie. I was trying to see some carp and locate a few snapping turtles before the season opener.  Usually I see a lot of Carp sunning themselves and a few snapping turtles here and there.

Today, there was nothing until after about a Mile, I saw a swirl next to shore.  I snuck up on it and sure enough there was a nice carp right sitting there.  Moments later I noticed about 10 others all pleasantly plump.  

I was wondering why I went for a mile and only saw a bass and the fish were all stacked up here.  That's when it hit me. Literally!!! A Mulberry!   :eek:    The fish were eating the dropping mulberries.    

I found another tree with the same results. so I sat, ate mulberries and fed fish for about 20 minutes and then it was dark. I also saw a barely legal sized snapper come to dinner.

So, I guess with any type of hunting look for food sources.   :D

hmmmmmm better look for an over hanging apple tree and i bet ya find Mobey Carp!!!!!!

When I was a kid growing up next to the Delaware river,there used to be a mulberry hangin over the marsh side of the river by the sluece(spelling?) and just when the tide was about to change from high to low, it would ebb for about 20 minutes.That's when I would shake the branch knocking dozens of berries into the water which would draw hundreds of minnows which I would scoop up in my net(panty hose wrapped around a hanger)than use them for bait.I also killed my first ground hog out of that tree. He was laying flat on top of a branch trying not to be seen. I kept throwing rocks at him til he came tumblin down.
