I am about to order a surewood shaft test kit for my Jerry Hill longbow. Bow is 53# @ 28" and I draw 27.5 inches. I usually shoot shafts that are 29" bop and a 200 gr tip, 3 X 5" feathers. I am planning on ordering the test kit with four different shaft sizes. My question is what spine size should I start with? Any help would be appreciated!

snag

With 200gr tip weight I would go with 60-65's. So you could try this spine range and then some lighter and some heavier.  (55-60, 60-65, 65-70, 70-75)
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

with 125 gn points cut to 30" bop and 53lb @ 29 i use either 60-65 or 65-70 equally well.

with same set up but with 57lb bow i use 65-70 only.

my bows are cut to ctr

Since everyone's shooting styles differ, as do the depths of the cut on the sight windows, I'd start with one spine group lower than that suggested, i.e., 50-55, and go up from there in 5# increments. Also, depending upon what total arrow wt you like to shoot, even at  10ggp, you're going to be at 530gn. Your surewoods may come in a bunch heavier than that with 125gn up front; therefore, you may want to lower your wt up front below 200gn.

Have fun.   :archer2:

do as surewood advises - bracket yer bow weight two spine ranges above and below.
IAM ~ The only government I trust is my .45-70 & my Ol' Brown Bess

I shoot 52# and bought surewoods in 60 to 65# they fly fantastic one of the best wood arrows Ive shot. Also archery past has surewoods with a bobtail taper.

**DONOTDELETE**

I have a Jerry Hill Deluxe Stalker 50#@28" (My draw) My arrows are 60-65 ASH 30"BOP w/160grn Snuffers and 4X4" nana cut feathers. I would bet that 60-65 will do You good cut 29"BOP w/200 grn up front....
