Do you normally shoot under game or over game when you miss ? I was just wondering if the average miss was high or low, Im betting high !

Under.  I think I have short drawitis.   :bigsmyl:

When I have missed, it is usually low, and one time I shot at 2 six points that were fighting.  When I say that I shot at 2 six points, I mean it.  I shot right where I was looking...arrow went right thru their racks.  I still play that one in my head every now and then.  I've tried blocking it out, but it is like a bad commercial, just sticks with you.

For me, most misses from a tree stand are over. From the ground they are under.

I don't believe I have ever fully missed a deer with a trad bow.  All have been left or right misses and still hit the animal.  My up and down is usually right on.  I have been lucky that I only failed to recover 2 of those and I feel they were not fatal wounds.  Lots of tracking involved.  I attribute all the misses to failing to get to good shooting form or not following through.

I've always shot low when shooting at deer. I shoot from a tree stand (which makes it odd, you'd think the arrow would go high) but I think it was because when aiming downward, I didn't bend at the waist. My draw was shortened. Not a mistake I'll make again!

I have missed both high and low but I think that the high is definitely the higher percentage. I have a motto: "A clean miss is beter than a bad hit any day!".

I shoot from the ground and most of my miss's go low.   :dunno:

I now try to concentrate on the heart because when I wound it's high.

I haven't kept track, but I'm pretty certain the majority would be high.  (And maybe "just a little too far back")

I miss low.  Either from wrongly expecting the deer or hog to crouch when I shoot, or from dropping my bow arm too soon.

High for me. I tend to over-estimate distance on game animals.

Over, under....repeat if necessary.  I shot at a monitor lizard once after 5 arrows over and under and over and under I finally decided it was too pretty to shoot and it had defied death enough times to get a pass.

The best misses are at grouse up in trees, I love to watch those arrows fly up, up and away into oblivion.

Truly though I seem to miss over the top the most.  I completely missed a moose at 15 yards once right over its back...that's a hard one to live down.

Bowshot

Tracy, how in the world can you miss a MOOSE? I can see missing a big 6x6 elk at under 10 yards by shooting over its shoulder.... every night for the last 15 years I see that green nock sailing into the foliage, but a MOOSE? How much longer before you return home?

I usually miss low, bighorn ram, bighorn ewe, whitetails, antelope, mule deer, bears, turkey's I usually shoot over though...this is painful.
