advice on KME sharpener

I have a KME sharpener and I am struggling to get a single bevel broadhead razor sharp.  I am trying to sharpen the 190 gr Grizzles.  Is it the angle I am trying?

2nd Pops advice, but in the meantime, probably not the angle..it's that the Griz has some HARD steel that resists setting a new angle...

They'll square you up and get you rolling pretty quick. Don't give up...once you listen to their advice and get that new bevel angle...you're in for a treat!

Calling KME is the best advice, but here's my $0.02.  You'll need to invest in a fair bit of elbow grease to get the beveled edge reground to the sharpeners angle.  You can go hard and fast at this stage.  Keep working on the course stone until an even bevel is achieved and a burr is raised all along the new edge then flip it over and lightly work the burr off, it should only take a few strokes.  Now's the time to slow down and ease up the pressure.  The BH should be pretty sharp now and you can move on to the fine stone to do a few lights strokes to finish.   Use a marker to darken the edge, it helps to keep track of where you are in the process.  This is how I sharpen my Stos's and though they're double bevel, the process is basically the same.  I too was surprised how much initial grinding needed to be done.  Stick with it, you'll get there!

Read thru this thread below and if you still have trouble, call Ron.  He will sit there on the phone with you WHILE you are working on your broadhead!  If that doesn't work, come down for the MTB shoot a week early and go to Compton and he will show you in person.  Once you figure it out, you will be amazed you had trouble in the first place

Ron is as good as it gets when it comes to customer service. Don't hesitate to call him.I'd love to help, but my Ace Standards and Bear Razorheads are easy as pie to sharpen. Never had a reason to switch to the newer single bevel heads.

Those Griz heads are made from some very hard steel. It takes a lot of elbow greese and time to get them where you want them.Be patient and keep working on them and if you are still having trouble give Ron a call.

Once the bevel is set It is very easy to get sharp. Also, very easy to resharpen. I just stroke on some card board to get back to shaving hair. I had a complete pass through on a hog and the arrow landed on rocks. When I checked it, it was still shaving sharp. I like that

speak to ron and/or read his sharpening article in the feb/mar 2011 TBM.  

set the blade angle with a COARSE stone - as coarse as they come.  yer 95% done after that, the rest is in LIGHTLY removing the burr.

i thought my wensels were razor sharp 'til ron show'd me how to get them too sharp to touch!
