Hi guys,

Well, I have been shooting trad for about 2 months, after 20 years of compounds and I am having a blast. So I thought I would include you in my journey as it has been full of frustration and excitement! First off to appreciate my journey you have to know that I am an absolute freak about accuracy!  So of course I tried to bare shaft tune my bow in the first week, what a joke! Weak, Stiff, hit a tree, Weak, Stiff and then of course an arrow nose dive 5 feet in front of the target at 15 yards. To say I was humbled was an understatement! So I put the bare shaft away and just decided to learn the basics! Fast forward to last weekend and something just started to click, I went from hitting the target 3 of 5 times to hitting the target 5 of 5 with no misses! While they were not all where I was aiming I was hitting the target... "Accomplishment"...

So today I went out to shoot some broadheads and was again hitting the target but the arrows were not flying good enough... So after checking tiller, nock height, making sure that I wasn't plucking the string, anchor, brace height, etc. I went back to bare shaft tuning... Again I hit the target consistently but everything was weak very weak! So, I took a full length Beman 400 MFX (different arrow) with a brass 75 grain insert, 175 grain point, and an 8 inch wrap and performance was immediately improved... Beautiful bare shaft flight, 3 out of 6 shots just slightly weak! So I fletched them up with some 5 inch feathers and they flew like butter over and over again... Put the broadhead on and again just like butter... My groups were cut in half, (my groups were large)... Anyway, I am pumped and I am one step closer to only owning trad equipment... Enjoy the journey and I appreciate all of the help that I have gotten from everyone here! Back to working on the basics...

Thanks

Accurate shooting will come with time. How do you like that Buffalo?

I like the buffalo...  I don't have much to compare it to, however its quiet, east to tune and smooth in my opinion... After I figured out the correct nock point and brace height I have really enjoyed shooting the buffalo...

Trad archery is addictive, some say it is a simpler form of archery but as you are finding out, very not true.

Enjoy.

Over&Under

Traditional archery, or shooting a bow without wheels requires far more consistancy with form and tuning to be accurate.  It challanges more and more each day.

That is the fun part!!

Enjoy!

Its great when it clicks. CONGRATS.

I suffered a long time with form and tuning.(1-2 years!)

It clicked for me this winter and its a blast aint it!

Shoot straight!

It is a journey indeed.  One of the most challenging...and enjoyable/rewarding journeys I've taken.  Remember to take time to just enjoy the simple flight of the arrow when you get bogged down.

Best of luck to you!
