I don't think it's correct to say that all modern R/D bows are cut past center-- some cannot be due to riser design and other factors. I also don't agree that it's hard to get a carbon or aluminum arrow to fly well out of a bow that is not center-shot. You just have to find the right spine and the arrow will fly as it should. I know that the Bob Lee bows are cut past center, and they are good shooters, maybe because of that. I own one now (3 pc longbow) and have owned several over the years. My Pronghorn is also a good shooter, not center shot. One design feature does not make a bow shoot well or not. More often , it is the marriage of the shooter and a particular bow. My 2 cents.

I agree with Susan. I have-had'em cut before center, too center and past center and arrow flight is not an issue here. Some take a little more tinkering with than others but there's an arrow (that shoots great) for very bow.

another 2cents here

Take a look at Cari-Bow by Abe Penner.  His three piece takedown (Silver Fox) is cut past center.  Don't know about the various one piece models.

Acadian Woods is another good hybrid (his treestick model).  Cut past center actually with a radius shelf.  Google him, he makes a beautiful bow.

Thunderstick M.O.A.B. is another very popular model.

Red Tailed Hawk

Lost Creek bows are cut to center, easy to tune.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but center-cut and center shot are two different things, right?

Center shot, means that the arrow shelf is cut past center, allowing the center of the arrow to be the mid-point, not the shelf as is the case in center-cut.
Which also means that the arrows spine-thickness must be double of the negative shelf cut dimension to get centered correctly. (or less if a strike plate is installed)..

Jim Neaves of Centaur will cut the arrow-shelves past center if Dymondwood or Micarta is the main riser material..

Rough Country.. The Hunters Choice

Just to clarify-- I think for most people, the meaning and purpose of cutting a bow past center is to achieve center shot, making the tuning process a bit easier and probably correcting the paradox somewhat.

Sorry Mike forgot about your Epic ILF riser for the ACS ILF limbs you make.
shoot straight shoot often

cut to center and centershot are different... a bow would have to be cut past center (1/2 the diameter of your arrow )to be centershot...

RedShaft,

One of our newest sponsors, Liberty Bows, cuts his longbows to center, on request.

One bow. One arrow. My ideal.

7 Lakes

I'll do it at 7 Lakes (depending on riser wood)but I disagree that finding a arrow shaft that is spined correctly is difficult.
