As many of you know, I am a fan of Blacktail bows. Wes Wallace's line has always been a bow that I have admired for years as I personally think they mirror each other in different aspects. I came to terms with Conner on a 62" 54# WW TD, contingent on if I could comfortably handle the draw weight of 54#'s. I try to keep my draw weight's in the high 40's to 50#, max. I just got done with a workout session with my new Wes Wallace TD and I have to tell you, he builds one awesome bow. It performs right there with anything else I have shot and I'm a stickler for performance out of my bows. This bow has it all, performance, looks, stable as they get and as smooth a draw as you can imagine. If you have ever considered a Wes Wallace bow, take my advice, don't wait any longer. You will thank me later...    :goldtooth:

Wes Wallace's customer service is top notch also!!

"instinctive archery" is more like playing the violin. Without practice you may remember the mechanics, but you will not be a virtuoso.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

I have a one piece Mentor and an old Partner with 48 and 56# limbs.   I second what you say,  with about 15 years of WW ownership behind me.   Fabulous bows and Wes is always a pleasure to work with.   I can't say enough good about them.

Pretty bow. When I was making my final choice on a 66" take down recurve, it came down to Blacktail and Wes Wallace. They are similar in looks.
Blacktail TD Recurve: 66", 42# @ 30". Arrow: 32", 2212. PW: 75 Grains. AW: 421 Grains. GPP: 10.02
Blacktail TD Recurve: 66", 37# @ 30". Arrow: 32", 2212. PW: 75 Grains. AW: 421 Grains. GPP: 11.37

You certainly narrowed it down to two of the best bows being built today, in my opinion, that's for sure

Wes does a fantastic job of building the "original" Jim Brackenbury design takedown recurves, which I have many of. I had a lovely WW bow at one time, but a friend and fellow TradGang member wanted it, so I sold it to him. Wes built the Brackenburys while working for Jim (I have at least one Brackenbury that Wes made), and then after Jim's death built them in Jim's shop until going out on his own. The WW "Mentor" bow is named for Jim who was Wes' mentor as a bowyer. The original Brackenbury design was great a quarter century ago, and it is still great today. Wes has bested Jim in the craftsmanship of the bows, and they are even more beautiful and functional today than ever before. No one could go wrong buying a bow from Wes, for the quality of the bow and the service Wes provides to his customers. That bow you got is a real beauty, JL. I also love the Blacktails. It is easy to see Jim Brackenbury's influence in the bows of both of these Northwest bowyers who knew Jim well and were inspired by him and his work.

I have a wallace TD Mentor 51# and I have to say that it is probably the smoothest drawing bow that I have ever owned.
