Had a problem occur today while at a 3-D shoot while shooting some vintage "Herters Farboglass-E" arrows that I recently obtained. It really is probably my fault for the problem , (which I'll get to in a second), because I shot these arrows 2 days ago and noticed that every time I walked up to the practice butts there were broken nocks on yet another arrow....5 in all that day! Well....this a.m. I decided i would use these fiberglass...(which Herters calls farboglass), arrows because they flew sooo well out of my 47# 59' Kodiak. About the 14th target I drew and released my new fiberglass arrow and the bow flew out of my shooting hand and the string severly slapped my arm....the arrow only flew about 8 feet off to the left and flopped on the ground!! I was stunned but basically unhurt but quite bewildered as to what the heck just happened. Upon examination of the arrow, the nock simply disintegrated at my release and I essentially dry fired the bow! My stupid mistake for not replacing those nocks!!! Duuhhhh....I know better than this......so BEWARE to anyone out there shooting vintage arrows...especially Herters and I presume Micro-Flite and probably any of the other 40 plus year old arrows out there. Let my foolish mistake benefit someone out there in a positive way........john

Plastic nocks get brittle with age. (Hope you and the bow are OK) You should always re-nock old arrows if you are going to use them.
