Just finished a GREAT St. Judes hunt yesterday with Dave Louis from Wisconsin. I`ll wait till he gets home to tell that tale but as for this Morning I was able to slip out before church Time for some Turkey action. Here is a couple of pics I had from yesterday first while I argue with Photobucket.....

The Morning was a bit cold here for this time of year...maybe 45 and it was perfect. When you hear a gobbler from your porch it don`t get much sweeter.I grabbed my gear and headed in the swamp....

I waited for a long time and things had got a bit quiet. I knew a bird was in the bottom because I heard him and I did`nt want to call just yet hoping he would Gobble on his own and give me a clue where he was at. My Directional hearing is really poor and I need all the edge I can have. Finally he sounded off and I got a bearing in my mind. A quick set up and a few scratched up yelps and it was on.

I`m a poor caller and believe in calling very little. I hoped the Turkey was coming and knew he heard me because he triple Gobbled four times in five minutes.I was starting to shake and had not even seen the bird yet. I laid the call down and got adjusted a bit for a shot and settled in to wait him out.
After a few minutes I heard leaves dragging to my left. It surprised me because the Gobbling bird had just sounded off and was still 75 yards or so away and was still behind a small rise.I cut my eyes around and barely moved my head and spotted a strutting jake with one hen. Unbelievable.
I`m not a trophy hunter and have never tagged out all in a season with my bow. We can kill 3 here in Ga and holding a tag for a "Big" Bird did not cross my mind. The Hen was headed for the Big Gobbler and the Jake "unfolded" and started slowly walking with her. He went past a Big Water oak that I actually had planned for a "draw" tree and the Big 5 came back with no effort it seemed......

As if on que he stepped and angled a bit toward me. Everyone that Turkey hunts has a "best" way for them they want to shoot a Bird. If I have a choice angling a bit to me is what I want. I can see the gap between the legs and try to make the Simmons tear up everything between them about mid body. The Interceptor hit with a loud crack and the arrow hung in the bird with equal amounts sticking out both sides. He tried to fly up and got about 5 feet in the air and maybe ten yards away and crashed in a fell over treetop. He was hanging above a small run of water and his head was hanging in the water...don`t know if I killed him or he drowned. He was laying about 20 yards away dead as a hammer. The big Gobbler thought a fight was on I guess and gobbled some more at all the flapping.I could see his hens but not him and decided I better get another Shark loaded up .Long story short and slant eyed hen saw me and screamed the news and they all left in a hurry. I looked over at my Jake and cracked a big smile....even I can hit one at 6 yards.

Now for the Lucky part. I have been Blessed to meet many fine people just from Traditional Archery. Some on TradGang and some on other sites but they all Friends I Love dearly. My good friend Pardue gave me the quiver I use and I was looking for a Hill Bow a while back and Thomas the Hog Dancer fixed me up with a fine a bow I`ve ever shot. A few Weeks ago JoeBuck was up to some plott`n and sent me a custom Turkey Call in the mail along with a letter that I put in one of my Photo Albums and it makes me smile more than the "kill" pictures its in with. A few weeks ago CJ Pearson asked if I was interested in some Interceptors. I told him I would like to have them if they will shoot with the arrows I already have. I got a bucketful. He sent them for me to try ...they shot great just as I was about sure they would. I asked Him what he would take for them and he replied they are a Gift.
 I`m a very lucky feller.God Bless ,RC.

RC says
"even I can hit one at 6 yards."
Those of you that have seen RC shoot all know that a lot further than 6 yards anything is in trouble.
Congrats on a nice bird. I was just thinking yesterdaY that i know turkey season is open in GA and RC hasn't posted yet. Knew it was coming. Love your stories and pics.
