I have an arrow that when I shot with BH's the head shaved just a very thin piece off the shaft of the arrow(I am lucky to have tight groups)It is still attached on one end and is not deep.It is as thick as a business card and 1/16 wide x 2".It does not look like it would affect the strength of the arrow at all. Normally I would not use the arrow but I just made these up and wondered if gluing it would be ok? Thanks for the responses in advance.Tim

I myself would can it, not worth having it bust and going thru a body part. If it is right at the point end than maybe super glue or epoxy and sand it down, if any place else I would weed it out! Shawn

not worth the risk.. we shoot woodies and some times we just got to break one over the knee to be safe.. in future one arrow and go get... better practice and we dont kill arrows... just MHO

Cut it back a little and foot it with a 2" piece of 2413 aluminum arrow. That's what I do when I break off a glued on point. The footing will add the length of it's insert to the overall shaft length, and I think about 12 grains. If you do it right, it will fly the same as the others, plus you can adjust more easily with screw-in points.

The shaved part is about 9" from the point. I will just toss it out. Thanks for the responses.

LONGSTYKES

Always toss it out and be safe, to many major injuries have been caused by slightly damaged arrows.

If the damage is very near the point end, it can be repaired with super glue, with great care. Nine inches from the end, I would scrap it. The center portion of the shaft is more likely to get you if it fails.

Remember, arrows are just ammunition. Always be prepared to buy or make more! That's why I keep mine simple and functional, so I don't get too attached to them.  :)

glue it with super glue and then wrap it with a stran of art-sinew. Then cover it with more super glue.
