My sister was down for the weekend from Tn. Had her 3 kids with her. 3,5 and 12 yrs old. On arrival they all poured out of the van and the first words out of the little ones mouths were. Lets do the arrows! Arrows!! I slowed them down a little bit but we eventually got around to going out to the targets. Gave them all a little safety talk and then we started them out, one at a time. Little Anna, at 3 sure tried hard an hit the target several times. Levi at 5 was pretty enthusiastic but still pretty young and wild to listen to much instruction. Seth at 12, took to it like a duck in water and that young man is HOOKED! We all took turns shooting until the youger kids got bored with it and Seth asked if he could keep shooting. I told him sure as long as he was safe and that I would be watching. He shot for about 2 hours! I came out about after about an hour with my bow and we shot together. while mom and pop kept the wee ones occupied. He watched me shoot a couple of times and then we started tossing arrows out at random ranges and kind of playing an archery version of horse. Trying to match each others shots. At any rate. The kid is hooked and he went home with a 35# Ben Pearson bow. A copy of Masters of the barebow 3 and a copy of the trad gang dvd. I told him if he practiced hard all summer that we would talk about bringing hime back down for a hog hunt this fall. I had a bunch of fun with all of them but to see the light shine in Seth's eyes when the arrow hit where he wanted it to was just pricelss.
A few pics.
