Hi,

I am just getting into trad archery and could use a little help. I have been shooting compounds for 20 years, I like the trad stuff better! So here is my question... I have a hoyt buffalo #45 @28 and I am drawing around 28 (still trying to get my anchor consistent). I have several arrows I have been shooting but I am looking to buy a dozen for the buffalo. I have tried to use "stu's" calculator but I am a little confused on the strike plate portion as the buffalo isn't programmed into his settings. Can you make a recommendation on an arrow set up, point weight, insert weight? I am guessing that I will be shooting a 29 inch arrow with 3 five inch feathers...

A 45# bow at 28 inches or so would probably be happy with aluminum 1916's or 2014's.

I use 2014's 2114's and 1916's in several 40 to 45# bows at a draw length of 28 inches.

Point weight I use is generally 125 or 145 grains.

Hope this helps.

I shoot this same arrow set-up out of my 43lb. GameMasterII with good results.

If using carbon, a 29 inch Gold Tip 35/55 with about 175-250 grains out front.  You can do that with various combinations of 50 or 100 grain brass screw-in inserts and 125-175 grain heads. Or with aluminum inserts, just use heavier field points , 150-225 grain.
