last summer at the Compton event in Berrien Springs I bought a short brimmed 'cadet' hat that was great for hunting and shooting. I know guy from Muskegon bought a bunch and sold them cheap. Anyone know where to get these, BigJim has camo and green ones. There must be a place to get more colors.

thanks.

Google up "North Face Military Hat" for one that I think looks worthwhile.

I have a beloved Finnish M-36 wool field cap that is perfect for bowhunting & stumping.  Not readily available.  This one has no brim reenforcement.

I just use my old trusty Boonie that Uncle Sam provided for me. Roll the brim up a little and it never gets in the way of my shooting.

I do the boonie too, but I cut an edge off.  Best thing about the boonie is that for spot and stalk you can stick grass/twigs around the edge and get rid of that "Predator Dome" look that our head gives when you peek over and look.

I like to use a doo-rag when hunting. If just out shooting I'll just turn my hat around.

Here's another one I like.  It's a polarfleece hat that's a variation on a "boonie" with a brim that is a bit longer front & back.  Very floppy so it moves out of the way.

Three Rivers still carries them (but not in ASAT anymore).

I use 4 different hats, neither interferes with my shooting. Pics...

Top hat is short brim from Clarkfield Outdoors, the other is insulated with holofil from Whitewater Inc

Top hat here is short brim fleece from Plentycoupsarchery, bottom is an original Fratzke.

Or fold up a watch cap.  (Same as the lowest one in Joe Skipp's post!  A Winona knit cap).

There are all sorts of good hats for bowhunting.

I have a size 8 head found this jumbo size bucket hat. The short brim stays out of the way and even with my melon I can wear a wool stocking cap under it.

It's on my head in my Avatar...

This one doesn't show up so well (and isn't that the point?).  It's a knit Bob Fratzke forage cap.

It's a good "three season" weight knit cap.

I like my bucket hat it keeps the rain off my ears and neck and has a shorter brim than a boonie

Can't speak for the brimmed hats.
Love my 100% merino wool border beanies.

I like the Sitka Gear beanies -- warm and out of the way.  However, I recently received one of BigJim's camo caps with the short bill that has a wire rim for shaping to keep it out of the string. It works terrific!

Boonies That my son gets at work . Army. I do the camo hanky thing also.

I have used up my last VN era Boonie.  They seemed to be different from the "new" ones.  The old ones seemed to have a shorter brim...  no problem with my draw.

I am now in the hunt for some more of those in OD Green....

EDIT   FLASH... After posting this wife says  "Honey you still have one left...its in your stuff"  Found it....  I am a happy camper

I like my Fedora style hat.  I can fold it up, with the soft brim it does not impede my shooting, it helps keep me warm while still being cool if that makes any sense at all, and it works really well with my two different gillie suits.  Lastly it takes me back to an earlier time of some of the late and great archers.

Bill Carlsen

I have several of the fleece radar style hats. The brim is perfect for keeping the sun out of my eyes yet they do not interfere with my bowstring at all.
