I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Most bow I got in the late 80's are between 62@29" and 64@28".  I would like to go down to about 50 to 55 @ 29.

Never thought that at age 59 with a bad shoulder that I would be able to do it, but I have worked my way up to shooting bows in the mid 50 pounds range both right handed and left handed and as an added benefit my shoulder issue seems to have disappeared.

What that did for me is let me buy a 55 pound LH 1960 Kodiak yesterday with complete confidence that I will be able to shoot it well. A year ago I would have considered that bow much too heavy for me.

My Silvertip is 54# @ 28". I draw a little over 30". I see no reason to have a bow any heavier than that. JMHO!  Jason

I shoot 60 to build strength ,makes 55 feel real good. Shot a 73 lofton long bow ,killed every deer i shot at with it . It also killed my shoulder.

Maybe someone should start an age-to-draw weight ratio poll!?!

I'm a 55-60 guy.I'd like to get a 65# bow for off season training/blank bailing.

From my experience selling bows and other threads on here I noticed that 45-55 is the most popular weight range. You'll have no trouble selling a bow in that range for sure.It also seems to be the "Adequate to kill anything" range as well, with bascially 50# being the "standard" of trad archery.

At least that's MHO.

Started out shooting 45-48, however recently bought new limbs for a different bow at 55-58. I am enjoying shooting the heavier weight.
Never wait too long!

Most of my bows are in that 51-53'ish range.
Just one more step please!

My favorite bow is 67#.  I shot one that was 86# for a while, I liked it but deemed it unnecessary and went to the 67#er.  I also have a 53# that I shoot some.  All weights are at 28" and I pull abuout 28.5".
