Just got back from Hawaii, where I enjoyed two weeks holiday and managed to sqeeze in a little hunting. Most of the big island was closed down to hunting because of Extreme Fire hazard, but because of a helpful trad gang member and new good friend Ron Keeling, I was able to find a few open places and have a truly awesome experience.

I first chatted with Ron through trad gang and ended up meeting up with him in Hawaii. We became quick friends and enjoyed talking trad hunting. I ended up at Ron's place shooting all his bows and talking Trad Hunting and ended up buying a Moab off him which came in handy during our Pig hunting adventures.

Ron and I hunted a gorgeous little gulch on private property, which was loaded with pig sign. I hit it hard for three nights  and just when I starting to give up hope, on the last night, at last light a sneaky little ~50lb sow came out of the bush and right in front of me. At too close to describe I stood up and fired an arrow through the split in a tree which was acting as part of my blind, I watched with disgust as it went low into the dirt. The pig took off out to 30m and stopped. Stunned that I missed, I quickly regained my senses, sat down and knocked a second arrow. The little pig started trotting down a trail broadside. I drew back my 58lb MOAB and lead him slightly putting it on his head. As I released the arrow, I lost it against the black pig in the fading light, it felt perfect!!!and I heard the pig squeal and watched him take off towards Ron........then silence. I gathered my gear and headed towards Ron who also heard the pig come running towards him, hoping he was going to get a shot. It went 35-40m and dropped not far from Ron. I made a perfect shot, behind the shoulder, exiting out the front of the far shoulder. This experience made my vacation and my year. It is a hunting experience that I will cherish for the rest of my life and Ron and I are already making more hunting plans. Thanks Trad Gang!!!
Aloha Ron

Oh, that sounds so much better to me right now than hunting in Alaska.

I am jealous.

Fantastic.  Congrats on a great hunt and making a new friend.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Boy, that sounds like fun! Congrats.
Having done so much, with so little, for so long, I can now do anything with nothing.

Cool! I need to plan a trip to Hawaii. My wife would go for it I'm sure till she saw me packing my takedown longbow in the suitcase.

Congrats!
