A Kanati is tough to beat......Mine is 58" I draw 29+" and it is a shooter. I haven't had it that long but it is going to be around for a while.
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

I like the 58" ACS limbs on their 14" riser.  bow is smooth and fast. I have a 12" riser and limbs on the way.  Can't wait!

X3 on the KANATI by Jason Kendall.

A fantastic product at a great price!

You don't see many on the secondary market and if you do, they don't last long....

Shoot straight, Shinken

Dave Beeler would be my choice,,super quiet quick little bow, Dave is excellent when it comes to customer service and you're not going to age that much waiting on the bow.

I love my Beelers, I also love my Horne's Brush bow. Either is a great choice.

I don't shoot a real short one but the Kanati I believe is a great buy in a short longbow. I have two at 60 inch length. They are shooters and they come back 30 inches just fine. They are a very fair price and the delivery is way shorter than a shrew. I have shot both. I think the Kanati is one of the best buys going. Not putting down a shrew at all either. They are a beautiful bow.
There is my two cents - jwingman

Another to cionsider is the Wild Horse Creek-- it's right up there IMHO

WOW! I had no idea there were so many choices. I wish I could shoot them all. Now comes the hard part, making a decision. Thank you everyone for you advice, I am making a list and checking it twice(I couldn't resist). I guess now it will come down to talking to the boyers and the archers that shoot them. Here is my list so far, price was one of the deciding factors.

Big Jim Thunderchild
Beeler Tracker
Lost Creek NAT
Thunderstick
Kanati
Cascade Brush Hawk
Dwyer Endeavor

For those of you that have one, any input would be appreciated, include how the boyer was to deal with.
Kanati 56" 55#@26" missing :-(
Mohawk 64" 60#@28"
Ben Pearson KM Special 50#@28"

Take a look at Rick Ellis (Striker Bows) I have a 56" slapstick that shoots fast and hard and where you want it to.

I have been intersted in the centaurs but I love my Striker.

I ordered a Dwyer Endeavor in Oct. and should receive it in July or Aug.It took me a year to make up my mind. When talking with Dave I wanted 63#@29" and there was no problem and they are great to work with, now the wait 9 months seems like a long time but for a great bow it is worth it.

Take the long way around.

I really don't think you could go wrong with any on your list. Its going to be your personnel decicion. How about Blondes,Redheads or Brunettes?LOL So many factors come into play that only you can decide.

I don't have my Thunderchild just yet, but my dealings with Big Jim have been very good. He answers emails, and is patient  and  helpful when you make changes. Seems like a pretty good fella.

I'd add one more:

Centaur,You couldn't be more right about Big Jim and when you do get your bow you'll see the wait was worth it.Craftsmanship second to none.

I have a Beeler Tracker 56" and it's my bow of a life time. I haven't been able to hunt much this year, but managed to kill a hog with my Beeler earlier in the season. It is smooth to draw, comfortable to grip, and the design works well for me. Dave is a great guy and an excellent person to deal with. You can't go wrong with a Beeler longbow.

granpa

Another vote for the new 56" Cascade Brush Hawk Longbow.

Love my Lost Creek Longbow!!!!  Chad is a great guy to deal with.
