My brace is at 8in on my B Riser. Shoots great and is quiet.

Emailed 3 rivers who I got the bow from, they said the B/H for my combination should be 7 - 8", I have made a D97 Flemish string AMO -3" and have been tinkering with it this afternoon.

Now I've got something to work with and its looking good.

Man that black maple is nice! Now if bear can just get rid of the black & tan diamond wood Super Kodiak & make them like some of the early one's.

I don't own one, but after going thru this thread about 3 times, I now have talked myself into getting one asap. Now just to decide which one....

Scott, did you order the Bubinga or the Black Maple Future Wood? I shoot a Dymond Wood riser and I love that little extra weight. My friend calls it the "Plywood Bow," but the Plywood shoots great for me.

I have a 2012 Bubinga coming. I really prefer the looks of that Black Maple, but found a very nice used Bubinga that was in my price range..I plan on getting some 55 lb limbs for it eventually..I like the looks of the plywood bows too...Scott

Hello all, (A riser + no.3 limbs)
thanks to those who took the trouble to reply and help.
I contacted Bear to ask about string length and brace height, it should measure 7.25" - 8.25" for the above combination and a string 3" shorter than the AMO is right.
I've set it at 8" it shoots great and it's very quiet without silencers, so with them installed it should be whisper quiet for hunting.

I love my 2011(A-riser/#3 limbs) black maple red stripe, red tips,looks/weight & overall feel.I find both my 42#&52# limbs seems to like heavier spine than I usually use for those weights. They also seem to like 81/4 inch brace heights.I'm now thinking I want some #1 limbs as well. And being an older guy I love it's heritage.      :archer:

I bought TWO green stripe bows,  I thought in 1981, at Woolworth's for a whopping $199.00 each!

Don't have either one of them today. Imagine that. But, I got my money back out of them when I sold them.

I also had an A-riser, number A2191, that Fred had signed, that I no longer own. What makes men do the things we do?

I'd love to have that A-riser back.

I've been thinking of buying one of the Bubinga A-riser bows, just a bunch of money.

Irish Archer, I would hold out a few more months and see what Bear has for the Takedown in 2014. I can't wait.

I feel your angst. I sold my Greenstripe in the early 90's. It was the most accurate bow that I have owned. I had 3 Robin Hoods with that rig and have regretted selling it since 15 minutes after I let her go! I just recently picked up one (YaY) and am curious to see if it will shoot like it did back in the day or if it was just me    :D

My bow shoots ok now, but when I draw I get a creaking noise, at first I thought it was the string wax sticking to the limbs, but now I suspect it might be the riser limbs fittings.

There is a little play when the limbs are in place before stringing.
I thought packing the joint with something to prevent movement might work.

Has anyone else had the same problem and how did you resolve it.

I had the same issue on a couple Bear takedowns.  I just put a little bow string wax on the alignment screw that sticks up in the limb pocket and it went away.

Another spot that could cause the noise may be the leather tabs under the latches. Altho that seems to be on the older bows. I had it with an older mag riser. I put some leather dressing on them and it went away.
I gather yours is new so I agree with Randal.
Hope it helps.
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

If you have any silicon lube, it works very well to get the creaking out of the limb/latch/riser junction.
