1st dangerous big game kill
«
on:
October 31, 2010, 08:32:00 AM »
It was an intense spot and stalk on this beast! I got him with a 55lb Quinn Stallion with a GT 3555 tipped with a Zwickey Judo blunt. Hunting these squirrels absolutely has to be the best fun I have had with any hunting since I was a kid. I have almost decided that Sunday afternoons are going to be pronounced Squirrel Hunting Sundays!

Word has it we have a sabre tooth chipmunk around here. Nice shot, my kids and I go out every Sunday afternoon, but we haven't been able to tag one yet. Saw a fisher cat last weekend chasing them, he did a bit better than we did.

eat them? we were raised on them. I called over to my grannies house the other morning and asked granny where papa was and she said "that old thing is in the kitchen eating breakfast". I asked her what he was eating and she said he had already eat 4 squirrels!

I hadn't posted this here yet, but here was my first traditional kill. I had to go back the next morning to find her and the coyotes had got into her a bit but I still got some good meat.

lb for lb squirrel is every bit as tasty as deer.
I really like it all but dang do I love me some wild rabbit.
Sticking them tree rats isn't as easy as one would think just because there are so many running around. They are certainly plentiful this year but that's doesn't mean necessarily that you'll get enough stuck to make a meal.
Thanks for sharing!

He looks like a real stud. I'm impressed that you could stand your ground and make the shot.

I hope you had a good rifle backup on that kill--maybe a .500 Nitro Express. Looks really mean!

Good shootin'. I'm glad someone took that Beast down, I'll feel a lot safer in the woods this week.
